Highlights Cancer Survivorship Training for Promotores de Salud: The Lance Armstrong Foundation and Migrant Clinicians Network will conduct a full-day (10am – 5pm) cancer survivorship training specifically designed for promotores de salud on Thursday, February 11th. The Opening Plenary will feature a keynote panel addressing immigration and health care reform and what impact these potential reforms will have on the migrant community. Speakers will include Rosenthal of the Migrant Legal Action Program, Dr. n of Sea Mar Community Health Centers, and linda Guillen of Community to Community Development. Film Screening: Don't miss the presentation of Frozen Dreams, a documentary produced by Emiliana Aguliar Reynoso, a Mayan Quiche from Guatemala. Frozen Dreams captures a community's response to the 2007 Del Monte ICE raid in Portland, Oregon. Following the screening, the filmmakers and participants will have an opportunity to discuss immigration policies, the roots of migration, and strategies for organizing to bring about reform. The Closing Plenary will feature remarks from longtime migrant health advocate Dr. Tina Castañares. In addition, a raffle will be held, with proceeds going to benefit the families impacted by the 2007 Del Monte ICE raid in Portland, Oregon. The Western Migrant Stream Forum brings together a broad representation of health professionals and others serving migrant and seasonal farmworkers for the purposes of education and training, information and resource sharing, coalition building and policy development.
