Bull, Marg. Your one-liner response to me was to ask " are you

exercising? " That is clearly an insulting, blame placing query.

Everyone on this board is an adult and not a single person here is so

stupid they haven't heard of " diet and exercise. "

Your one-liner was then followed by two more posts by you, one of

which was to the effect that " not following post-op instructions to

the T should void the warranties, " etc.

So don't come back at me with your phony-baloney claiming you were

" just being supportive. "

Those comments made it very plain that you were being catty, not

supportive in the least.

And to then claim that I was " attacking " you by

responding to your attacks -- that's the best laugh I will

probably have today.

I won't tell you to shove it, Marg, but the thought crossed my

mind.

I can not believe this, it seems that everytime I turn around there is

something going on with , for those of you that haven't been on here

that long there was another arguement a while back that caused people to

leave the list, and here YOU go again. I think there is no sweeter person on

here than Cathy Morrow this woman has done NOTHING but support everyone on

here. If you are upset with what a person said why don't you email them

privately, why do you make it known to the whole group. I can understand why

you are upset I would be too if I were gaining instead but I feel that all

remarks were meant to help not to hurt. I don't post much anyway but I still

try to answer and help when needed. I am leaving this pre=op group and going

elsewhere maybe there I won't have to listen to this CRAP anymore. I will be

more than happy to be a contact and try to answer questions for all who are

interested you can email me directly at Aprilsands@...

This is the last response I will make to this subject. If it makes you feel

better to insult my intelligence then be my guest. Believe it or not, I do

feel for you and what you're going thru, I was just trying to make you see

that it's not right to attack someone when they are honestly just trying to

be there for you. No one on here is trying to tell you what to do or how to

do it. You are a very intelligent woman as everyone knows, you know all the

stats, info etc. and yes you have the right to vent, that is what this site

is for, but you were getting down right ugly in your comments to people and

so I responded to you in the same demeanor that you were using on them, and

yes you were nice to other respondents, but 1 bad apple can spoil the basket

and the comments and pot shots you were taking at these people to me just

wasn't right. I guess I decided to use this forum in the way that you felt

you had a right to and I shouldn't have done that. I apologize to anyone I

may have offended, I just think you need to think before you speak as to how

you may actually hurt someone who in all honesty thought they were trying to

help you not insult you.

Dear ,

1.) Thank you so much for making me feel like an uneducated moron and a

religious retard.

2.) Had I have know that my letter was going to go under a microscope to be

graded by a nasty psycotic witch and then used to absolutedly humilate me - I

would never had bothered.

I'll have you know that I rarely post but I was so upset for you that I

stopped in the middle of my business day to close the door and try and reach

out. You are a total bitch and for my effort - I am now sitting in my

office and crying - thanks a lot. You are not the only one having a rough

time.

3.) I (obviously) do not have a college education nor do I have the time in

my day to spend on critisizing every fucking word that someone writes. Maybe

you are OVER-educated and incapable of reading between the lines (you know

where the love and caring stuff was) But " I " DO have feelings - How kind of

you to chew them up and spit them out publically - tell me; Do you " feel " any

better?

4.) Not that I owe you an explanation- but my reference to " God " s Will " was

purely ment to just make you smile- of course it's NOT God's will!

5.) " NEWSFLASH " - Your not the only fat person here! I have been shy enough

about posting even though I have been reading the posts now for almost a

month.

6.) I can tell you this - I will NEVER post publically again!

Kind Regards

If you write to Dr. R. they way you just wrote to me it is no wonder he is not

answering your emails.

What's that smell? Oh, it's the bridge you just burned.

Kaye,

I suggest you look at the statistics that should comfort you and not just from

Dr. R's site.

If you think of yourself as a winner going into the surgery you will come out a

winner after surgery.

Hey, the good news is that, with *ANY* weight loss surgery,

there is a *very* small statistical likelihood that you will

end up at either end of the spectrum, losing too much or not

losing, something like a 1% chance, so from a statistical

average, you have a 99% chance of success!

> Any one of us can lose 50 pounds, when you are big that

> is really not that hard.

Exactly. How many times have we all lost the same 30, 50 or

100 pounds, over and over? I thought this was going to be

*real* solution, a 150 pound solution, a permanent solution.

And the fact is, if the surgery is done properly, it would be

physically impossible to not lose weight. It would be

physically impossible to gain weight short of getting

high-calorie I.V.'s or something.

Weight loss is even observed in THIN people who have this

surgery for other problems, like congenital defects or ulcers,

rather than for weight loss. That is how Dr. R. even came

up with the idea to use it for weight loss -- he did this

surgery on a guy who had a gunshot wound and realized the

guy lost weight after the surgery.

And the fact is, I have had slow weight loss from the outset,

and now I am gaining.

The only reasonable conclusion is that my stomach is too large

and not enough intestine was bypassed and that means that the

surgery was not done properly. There. I put it in black

and white.

[NOTE: No, that does not mean I am saying Dr. Rutledge is a

bad surgeon -- I think he is an excellent surgeon and

diagnostician, for that matter. But I do think that even

an excellent surgeon can underestimate the amount of bowel

and stomach that are or should be bypassed in this

procedure. It happens. And I'm living proof.]

Apparently no one wants to come right out and say that, so

instead, they fall back on " diet and exercise " or

the usual dieting-habit-questions, assuming fault and

blame, all of which is just inappropriate after weight

loss surgery. Surgery physically alters you so it should

be impossible to " fail. "

Now, the issue for me is what can be done about it and when

(and by " it, " I mean the failed surgery)?

I think it is very plain at this point that the surgery is

a failure and it should be fixed.

And I do think it is important for pre-ops to know that, yes,

the doctors, INCLUDING Dr. Rutledge, DO vary the amount of

intestine they bypass and the size they make your stomach

and it depends largely on your starting weight. The heavier

you are, the more you get bypassed and the smaller will

be your stomach.

So if you think you will get a jump start on your surgery and

lose weight beforehand, like I did, then you can expect to

be treated surgically like someone who was never huge because

that is what the doctor will SEE -- a person who is not

so huge anymore.

So, you get the " lightweight " bypass -- you get a lesser bypass

and bigger stomach, but, surprise, your body responds like

the huge person it was and wants to be and holds onto the fat.

To me, there's no surprise there, other than that Dr. Rutledge

did not listen to me when I told him this before surgery.

I tried very hard to keep my mouth shut about it, waiting

and hoping against hope that it was going to change,

but it has not, it has gotten worse.

And why should I have hoped or expected it to change? NOBODY

loses more weight the 3rd/4th months -- their weight loss

slows. That is a statistical fact.

So, in July, why did Dr. Rutledge tell me to " wait 2 months? "

I can't help but wonder if it was it so my BMI would creep

down low enough that my insurance would not pay for a

revision -- which is EXACTLY what happened to someone else!

I also can't help but note that If I don't have a revision,

then I'm not a " problem statistic, " that has to be reported

in the tally. Call me suspicious, for surely I am that.

I really feel sorry for that lady -- THAT is my

nightmare come true and I am sure it was hers, too.

And I also can't help but notice that the people who are

having a lot of problems losing weight now are people

who have had surgery since died in mid-April.

Perhaps that is coincidence or perhaps it indicates

that Dr. Rutledge has made some significant changes in

the way he does the surgery. I don't know. Maybe

I'm looking for answers that aren't there.

Thank you for your post. I hope your surgery goes

perfectly.

Hello? Earth to April: Did Cathy post her comments to me privately or

in the newsgroup?

Was what I wrote a sudden attack on Cathy or was it a response to what

Cathy wrote in the newsgroup?

And, yeah, baby, there's ALWAYS something going on with me -- jam up,

action-packed adventure and excitement! Get over it.

Kind regards,

I think it's rich how the people like you, complaining about my " attacks

on them " don't quote what they said. I guess I'm supposed to forget

what you said if you don't quote it? Now *that's* insulting someone's

intelligence.

Your previous post was not concerned, kind or supportive, and if you

don't like my response, then don't write nasty comments to me, it's JUST

that easy.

I dare say I rarely, if ever, wrote to you before you took it upon

yourself to attack me, now did I? If you'd like that happy state of

affairs to return, then simply cease and desist, madam.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Is this another " supportive " post, ? Or should I assume that if

because I'm not losing weight that you are implying I didn't " think of

myself as a winner " before surgery?

Have you ever heard what happens to people who overdose on cliches?

It's not pretty.

Whoops, you've slipped up, there, Dave. I wrote you a quite informative

and supportive response to your earlier posts.

However, in response to YOUR condescending post to me, I responded in

kind. Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

Everyone on this EGroup except for have been wonderful and supportive

to me.

********************************************************************

This might be a mistake but I would like to add something to this:

For the preops that are new to this list (and need the advice and support).

I have been here since May. and I have had a problem or two but I want

to say here and now that has been the BIGGEST help to a lot people

here including me. She is very informative when it comes to the law and to

the MGB. She has been the reason alot of people have been approved by

insurance who otherwise would have been denied. is going through a

terrible time. I (as a pre op) can " only " imagine what she must be feeling.

is mad, upset, hurt and frustrated, but she is also a very strong

determined outspoken woman. I think I'd be a pissy mood also if it was me.

This is a support group, can we all be a little more understanding of what

she is going through? Please!!!

I am not sure what can be done to end this. I can only hope that 's

situation gets better (either by a revision or suprise weight loss, which

lets face it after 4 months it ain't happening) ...as I said before

email me personally or call if I can help or just be there to listen (read)

Marge,

Thanks for the encouragement. I am seeing a psychiatrist to help with the

self-image problem. I think you are right. It is a little early, and at

least my blood sugars are going in the right direction - only FBS of 156 this

morning. I cannot remember when it was that low - and no meds! Thanks, and

best wishes to you. Sherry
