Guest guest
Hi my name is Lori, Has this diet helped OCD/anxiety? I have 13 year old daughter who has OCD and perhaps sensory issues. Her therapist wants to put her meds up because she thinks it will benefit her to take some of the anxiety off so she will be more freed up to enjoy herself. She is at a low dose of celexa(10 mg) now. I want to figure out why the meds do help and if there is an alternative. We've been working with a naturopath with some results but we have never done a strict diet. She was showing eating disorder problems a couple years ago so I haven't wanted to play with it too much. Cranio sacral has helped her a lot. I'm curious if people with these specific problems have had good results with this diet? Thanks, Lori

From our point of view, since there is a definite brain and gut connection, I believe diet matters. We actually have an anxiety doctor on our group, Dr. Ronnie Freedman. Maybe she will comment. SCD helps with ADD and ADHD so it may be beneficial. I can volunteer that I used to have panic disorder and agoraphobia and no longer do since marking six years on SCD. I like to think SCD has contributed the improvement although I initiated the diet for celiac disease. I still like to follow routines and organize things, as routine can be stabilizing. However i do not do this compulsively and am comfortable with being flexible. Whatever solves a situation is comforting. How about a one month trial of SCD for your girl? Carol F. My dd has anxiety but no OCD although we have OCD in the extended family. We belive my dd's anxiety is caused by nutritional defiencies (even though she was a good eater on a regular diet). Her defiencies are causing her to not convert amino acids into neurotransmitters. We feel this diet is key to helping her recover in addition to supplements and metals detox. We are just getting started so I can't really tell you how its working but I'm very hopeful. And you know what even if it doesn't help its so healthy it certainly couldn't hurt! Guest guest
I have mild OCD and a huge reduction in OCD symptoms was an unexpected surprise just a couple of weeks in. It makes sense though, since strep has been impicated in many cases of OCD, and this is a bacteria- starving diet. Best wishes, > > Hi my name is Lori, > Has this diet helped OCD/anxiety? > I have 13 year old daughter who has OCD and perhaps sensory issues. > Her therapist wants to put her meds up because she thinks it will > benefit her to take some of the anxiety off so she will be more freed > up to enjoy herself.
