Hi Jae,

I'd mention this to your ortho and surgeon. I used to grind my teeth

at night too. I no longer do, one of the benefits of having this

surgery, I guess.

Your ortho can make you a night guard to help prevent damage to your

teeth now. Your surgeon could prescribe amitryptyline (an anti-

depressant) which I have read is commonly used to relax muscles and

minimize the teeeth grinding. I take this drug for another reason

(sleep problems) in a very low dose, so it never helped with the

grinding, but I can say that it's a drug that has worked very well for

my other problem (I've been taking it for about 13 years now).

Hope that helps,

Hi,

I grind my teeth a lot at night. I was hoping that it will get better

with surgery, but not yet. Don't worry about damaging something - if

it is painful to grind your teeth postop, you won't do it. Postop was

actually the best time for me in terms of teeth griding, because I

used to wake up with relaxed jaw muscles - so nice! Now, it's back to

what it used to be.
