Guest guest
Ricki: I can answer a couple of your questions because of my past experience. Yes there are other things that can cause elevated lipase and pain that is the same as pancreatitis. Last November I was admitted to the hospital with a bloated abdomen and in excruciating pain. All the x-rays and CT scans pointed to it being a perforated duodenal ulcer. Even my lipase and WBC count were high. I was treated with a naso- gastric tube and NPO for 8 days. A month later when the doctor did a gastroendoscope it turned out that there was no ulcer at all and never had been. Even the MRCP has never shown anything. Conclusion---I was told I have idiopathic CP, although I am still waiting to have an ERCP all these months later. I'm hoping my GI will do one soon because I'm in pain every day although it's not bad enough for painkillers. I want to find out if there is any damage or if they can find a cause. Hope this helped you out a bit. Judy
