Guest guest
Which is better assimilated from people's experiences, ghee or raw cow's milk? I have used ghee this past week for myself & found myself to be a bit gassy. The baby still nurses & he broke out in eczema, that I now think could be related to the ghee, so I won't be using it anymore & see how he does. I noticed that some cheeses are allowed on SCD, & we would be using raw cow's milk cheese. If I had some of that would it be more tolerable to very dairy sensitive individuals then the ghee? I thought ghee would be fine since it's casein free, but apparently we must be super sensitive becz it doesn't seem to be working out here. Thanks, Michele

I tolerate dairy on and off and that includes raw cow cheese and pasteurized cheese as well as legal goat cheese. However, I can go weeks being OK with it and a small flare means caused by anything at all means I have to stop for a few days. Butter has never been problematic. When I made the Ghee, i liked it so much that I used it too often. Carol F. SCD 6 years, celiac
Guest guest
Well ghee SHOULD be easier to digest than cheese, because traditionally it is the proteins (such as casein) which cause classic allergies. Ghee is casein-free or nearly so, depending on the brand. Cheese, on the other hand, is casein condensed. But people are different, and sensitivities vary. You could be sensitive to all dairy; you could have a issue digesting fats; there could be some die-off or other issue going on. Good luck figuring it out. I know someone who does three challenges before he decides that something is the culprit. Lorilyn
Guest guest
I went off the ghee as of Sunday, but had raw cow's milk cheese Sun, & yet his eczema is clearing up today. He has been stuffy for the past 2 days though. It all could be die off still (figuring out what's what is so confusing sometimes). I'm off both now so I'll try the ghee in another week & see what happens.
