Hi !

Welcome to the group! I figured I'd respond since I have two

preemies myself - my first was born five weeks early, but didn't need

to be banded, and my second was born 3.5 weeks early (so

just " barely " a preemie!). Your question is interesting... I don't

think I ever thought about it till you brought it up. My son who's

currently being treated started treatment at 4.5 months and they've

never used his adjusted age. Regardless of what either of my boys

have been seen and/or treated for, everyone has always gone by their

date of birth/chronological age.

I'd have to guess that as long as your son has good head control to

have the photos and digital imaging done (which, at 3.5 or 5 months

should probably be the case) his adjusted age probably won't matter.

He'll have to be seen every week for adjustments and head

circumference measurements, but that would be the case at 3.5 or 5

months old.

When you go to the pediatrician, were they charting his

length/weight/head circumference based on his gestational age? My

son was charted based on his birth date, but fell into the 10th

percentile for head circumference b/c he was so flat - most of his

head was in height, not depth, and his circumference was pretty low

for his age. That's definitely improved over the past seven weeks in

the DOC, though!

Good luck to you and your little one!

Hi Jess,

Thanks for your response. My son's pediatrician usually looks at

adjusted age for height/weight, because then he is right on track.

The ped. has never told us what percentile his head circumference

is, and I never thought to ask. Last time we went the doctor said it

was about 42 centimeters ... does that sound about right for a 5

month old? I'm still learning all the ins and outs to

plagiocephaly ...
