There have been a handful of successful pregnancies after the MGB and

many after other weight loss surgeries as well. The main keys are to

try your best to wait until your are near goal weight and done losing

and to plan it so that you are very aware of how well you are

complying with vit/mineral supplements. The biggest problem seems to

be women who feel so much better that they stop taking the 3x

supplements and then the babies are mal nourished in some cases

causing serious birth defects. But with sound post-op nutrition and

planning and monitoring, there should be no problem. It is a dream

of mine as well, so I have followed any info about it. Searcch the

website for pregnancy. Dr. R. has some good research on it.

Dr. R told me to wait 2 years or when you quit losing weight, but pregnancy

was not a question of IF just WHEN!

good Luck!

I didn't catch her name, but there was a post-op at the picnic who

was obviously pregnant. I also know that one individual got pregnant

a couple months after her MGB. She continued to lose during the

pregnancy and I've heard that she and the baby are fine.

Sorry - I don't remember the names of either of the above - maybe

someone else on the list does.

All the best,

Debbie

I work with a woman whose daughter had gastric bypass in July of 99;

got pregnant in March of 2000 (unplanned)as of July, she had lost

around 110 lbs. her and baby girl (due in december) are doing

fine...ultra sounds show baby's growth is fine. email me personally

and I'll give you a contact number for her if you'd like to speak to

her. -
