Guest guest
Gloria, I was so happy your surgery went well. I liked the part about french fries. I guess it really does change your desires. Did you have any nausea after surgery? Hey I just thought of a couple of questions you might know since youve been around a little while. Right now as a pre op I get sick at my stomach when I don't eat. I always thought it was those pesky stomach acids wanting to chew on something. Many times because of my job I skip lunch and about 2pm I feel like I am going to get sick. But, if I eat a cracker or yogurt or really anything......I am fine. Here is My question. The mgb leaves my stomach in tack with all its acids, while my new little stomach receives the food. Do we still feel the stomach acids in our old stomach? I hope everyone isn't laughing there face off..but, if you are ....everyone needs laughter......It does a heart good..like medicine. I am hoping someone knows the answer to that one. I am not talking about acid reflux. Just plain old hungry. Okay, my next question: I am a heavy water drinker..I love it and always have.I don;t drink sodas, or coffee. Do I have to cut down on my water intake? Right now its about 60 to 90 ozs a day. (no I am not diabetic) Just love good ole Rocky Mountain Water. I am beginning my contacts, thank you to all the post-ops. Also I needto share a real frustration . I have tried several times to finish my patient info online. Someone knocks me off by calling my home phone!!!!! I was almost finished last time. Then today I tried again. I took off work this morn to do it. I call forwarded my home to my cell. Hey, I am getting smart now.Sooooooooooooo I was on page 4 when all on a sudden a screen pops up and says THIS WEBPAGE DOES NOT EXIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It erased my whole thing.. I went to work thinking Okay, Do I give up like this was a sign from above or do I keep on trying. Did anyone else have this problem? Have a good Wednesday evening....... Debbie L. Guest guest
Debbie, I am not Gloria, but you sound like me. Your new tummy doesn't produce as much of the acid cause it is so small. The old tummy won't feel anything. I too got sick when I got empty, but that is DEFINATELY not the problem now. Now, I can't tell when I am hungry. I have to make myself eat. I haven't been eating enough, hence weakness. Anyway, don't worry yourself about all that, it won't be a problem if I am any indication. As for the water, you won't be able to drink as much to begin with, but maybe later you can just sip constantly. I too drank lots of water and now, I am using a " regular " glass and sometimes can't finish it. I hear that changes with time though. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I, too, get soooo nauseated when my stomach gets empty. In years past, I have been told I was hypoglycemic. Regardless of the diagnosis, I am like you-eating something, anything, almost helps. I am on my way this am to Durham for surgery tomorrow. Sure hope this will stop the nausea. I react to unpleasant feelings with nausea. Headaches, any kind of pain usually make me feel that way. Dr. R. said I would probably have a lot of nausea just after surgery. Oh well......... Betty crossing over tomorrow. Re: to Little Red >Gloria, > I was so happy your surgery went well. I liked the part about french fries. >I guess it really does change your desires. Guest guest
Hi ya'll, I wanted to chime in here, you do gain the ability to drink water again! I had my surgery 7/24/00 and I can drink regular already, no teeny sips for me! Of course I don't turn it up and drain the bottom out of it (lol, lol) but I can drink a regular 16 oz glass of water in a normal amount of time. This was also one of my concerns both pre-op and post-op for the first month. But by the end of the first month I was able to take normal swallows with some time lapse in between and now I am taking 2 to 3 swallows at a time! As for the stomach thing, well Dr. R says it just hangs around doing nothing all day! What a job huh?? ) Anyway, I do feel hunger some now but it's more like a gurgling. Like the tummy says, " Hey you forget me down here? " Doesn't take much to quite it back down though! Is this more than you wanted to know??? Sorry! I tend to chatter too much! (((HUGS)) Rosemary Re: Re: to Little Red > Debbie, > I am not Gloria, but you sound like me. > Your new tummy doesn't produce as much of the acid cause it is so small.
