Does anyone know if the pre-op test is required

yet. I have seen it on the site but the steps to

submit the packet for approval doesn't seem to

mention it. I have included the answers to the

questions into my patient letter. I am about to

submit my packet on Tuesday and just want to make

sure I've covered everything.

Hi,

The test is still tentative.

I have gotten lots of feed back.

Many people say they liked it and I have gotten some great answers.

Others hate it and me for making everything so hard for them to get the

surgery.

Reading my email is a very interesting experience.

I am either an angel or a devil every day and often to the same patient in

one day.

The critical emails keep me from getting a big head so I guess they are

good.

....

So what does everyone think about the Test?

I printed it off and wrote out my answers.

Although I had read the Web site, patient manual

and paper several time, I still had to look up a

couple of the answers. I used a lot of it in my

patient letter, which I think made it more

substancial. I think after the exercise, I had a

clearer understanding of the various types of

weight loss surgery and why the MGB is not like

the Mason loop (I still don't undersntd how the

other doctors can make the comparison - I guess

they just didn't bother to read and understand how

the MGB is done). I think it is a worthwhile

exercise - either as a test or just as extra items

to put into the patient letter.

Dr. R,

Seeing as you will be cutting on me in a little over a

week, I think anything you want to do is the PERFECT

thing to do, hehe. I love everything you do, you are

so smart, wonderful sense of humor, I've even heard

you are a babe. :) (shameless butt smooch!)

LOL

Now, I know you will be gentle with me, right?

That is what T said.

You can't ask the preops because they will all only say nice things to you.

I can tell you that lots of preops feel free to say non nice things.

:-)

On the other hand I do appreciate the nice comments.

Hi Dr R,

I think the test is okay. This is a very serious procedure we are

undertaking and requires serious study and deliberation.

I found myself at first annoyed by the questions to which I did not have

answers, since I had to leave the test to go and research and then come back

and start again. (is there a save option I couldn't figure out?)

However, I then found myself very appreciative of having to research and gain

that knowledge of some of the other procedures with which I was not familiar.

So thank you, and thank you also for grading and responding to mine so

quickly.

Peace,

Ruqayya
