Guest guest
YES. My son has a bigger helmet than most--it's not a DOC or STAR but a locally made one--and he sleeps on his back, or curls on his side or . . . whatever he wants to do. It has not affected his sleeping from day 1, and doesn't seem to be uncomfortable. When your son's is removed at 10 months or so, he'll be a more " active sleeper " and it shouldn't flatten again. My older two boys flipped their heads a lot even though they were back sleepers and NEVER got a flat spot, so I wouldn't worry about it coming back later. Probably your son is like my 3rd son--his neck was stiff from torticollis and that kept him in one spot, flattening his head. Without that, they move enough to prevent that. Best wishes! Don't worry! (Plus when your son is 10 months old or so, he may NOT be a back sleeper; by that point, they can flip at will and it's okay to sleep on their stomach). Betsy After my son gets his helmet, will he still be able to sleep on his back with it on? Im concerned about this because I know that babies should always sleep on their backs, but will the helmet still correct the problem if they are on their backs while wearing it? And what about after he wears it for three or four months and then its removed? He's only 5 months old, wont his head flatten again? He sleeps all night, about 10 hours .Thanks Jessie - 5 months- tort and Plagio
