You use any commercial processed food at yoiur own risk and discretion but a handwritten letter testifying to the ingredients carries some weight. I obtained this for an Ontario, Canada organic tomato juice and have enjoyed it for several years. I was able to show it to Elaine too. > > Oh, and I made it through my first day on the SCD. You may want to carry a tiny shaker of dextrose free salt with you when dining out. Baleine's Sea Salt from France is the one I use and it's at some supermarkets. I also use coarse Kosher salt at home. Ask for a pepper grinder at the table. Steamed veggies sound find. Enjoy your restaurant meal. Carol F. Yes, home canning is fine. <<Also, if we have written confirmation from a company of the ingredients (or lack there of) then we are allowed to use that particular canned product? >> If you can get written confirmation from a company... a hard copy... that confirms not even the slightest SPECK of anything other than what's on the label is EVER added to their product, and you feel comfortable going ahead and using that product, by all means go ahead. It just doesn't mean that it's " deemed to be legal " for everyone else on the diet.... that's just for your own use. We say that mainly because some people will STILL not want to trust the manufacturers to be completely honest... but also because the company can change it's policy, recipe, procedure, staff, etc.... at any time in the future without warning you. If it's been posted to our list as " officially legal " , then we could have problems in the future with someone searching our archives and using a product they see posted as legal... when it's actually not legal at all anymore. That's the list dilemma. We also just always say that if you don't see the results you had hoped for, let that be the first product you pull... and just see if you improve when eliminating it. It's often the case, though it may not make sense. Patti
