Guest guest
A provokation is where they do what is called a chelation challenge. The doctor gives you just a couple of days of chelation treatment, and then has you give the urine specimen to see if the chelation brought out a large quanity of metals. You do the chelation challenge at home, and the test as well. You mail it in to the lab, and they send the results to the doctor. I believe ours ran about $200-$250. You would need to go through a doctor, but I don't know what type for an adult. Perhaps your best bet would be to call the office of one of the dan doctors(doctors who treat autistic children), and ask if they can point you in the right direction. Most doctors would run a blood test for you to check for some metals, but wouldn't test further if it came back fine. The problem with that is that often metals settle into different organs in your body. If they're not actively floating around in the blood, they won't show up in the test. I don't know why doctors balk in regards to the urine tests, hair samples, and stuff like that. My dad has worked in health and safety for the military for 20 years, and then in the private sector for another 20 years. He has often told me that it is a well known and accepted fact that metals may not show up in blood work because they've already settled to other parts of the body. He was a huge help to me when we started researching heavy metal poisoning for our son. So, my suggestion would be to talk to the right kind of doctor about the best way to get an accurate result. I can also tell you that the prescription for the chelation medication cost us about $100 just for three days to provoke the metals, but our prescription coverage did reemberse us for that. I'm sure if you give your area of the country, someone on the list can recommend a dan doctor near you who could point you in the right direction for a doctor to help you.
