Guest guest
Woohoo!!! I am so happy for you. Is that the first time she's tried to say a word? I might try hiding a bit of pureed carrot in the popsicle. It's an easy veggie to digest, and I don't think she'd taste it if it's mixed with other stuff. I really cannot tell you how happy I am for you. What does your husband think? I bet he'll fall on the floor when he sees her eat a popsicle. Way to go, Mom. You just keep it up. She'll recover right before your eyes slowly but surely, I'm betting. Meleah Day 8 and she FINALLY ate! I'm soooo excited!!!! Hi all, I wrote this morning and said that Rylee ate 3 little bites of a peaches/apples/Welchs Grape Juice popsicle. Well, she just finished a WHOLE popsicle!!!! And she's at the freezer right now wanting another one. I am just so excited. When I wrote you guys on Saturday about her hunger strike/poop smearing weekend - I had just about had enough. She is sooooooo stubborn and has severe texture issues. I never thought in a million years that she would give in and eat the popsicle. I sat next to her on the couch and I just started eating it. I kept saying " Yummy popsicle " ....I put it by her mouth and she took a small bite and said " Mmmmmm, aah-sis-il " .....I wanted to fall over but I kept my cool :-) I can't stop thinking about the endless possibilities of things I can hide in the popsicles. I'm going to make chicken soup tonight and try adding a little of that to the next batch of popsicles I make. Thank you all for your support and advice - you are all a great group of people!!! I'll keep you updated on our progress.
Guest guest
..... YES!!! That's just wonderful. Who woulda thunk? A whole new world of possibilities can open up now... as ANYTHING you can puree into a sort of " smoothie " , you can freeze into a popsicle. I'm talking even CHICKEN. Cool, cooked chicken breast will puree up really nicely ... and doesn't have much taste. After it's cooked and cooled, just slice it very thin across the grain with a sharp knife... then you can add a very SMALL amount of this to whatever else you're pureeing to freeze. Butternut squash is another good thing. Congrats! I know we'll hear a lot more great news from you. Patti Day 8 and she FINALLY ate! I'm soooo excited!!!! Guest guest
Hey ! How exciting that she is finally eating. You can probably puree little bits of the chicken and some broth in with fruit and juice to make the popsicle. I am in the process of one of my boys doing a hunger strike. No fun. He has eaten a little, but not today. Well, he does drink the yogurt which is a snack in itself. But someone suggested to you to mix chicken broth with some juice in her sippy cup. I took that suggestion yesterday. I put 2/3 cold chicken broth (fat and all) to 1/3 juice. Both of my boys drank it down. You might be able to get good stuff in her juice like that. Congratulations on getting her to eat. Keep us updated. Guest guest
Wow !! That's fantastic! I love what Rylee said, " " Mmmmmm, aah-sis-il " . Does she say much or is this a kind of first for her? Remember to take it kind of slow in adding new flavours to the popsicles, so she won't catch on the change in flavour. I think you are really on to something here. Well cooked pureed carrots or squash can make an ice cream/popsicle also. Those two veggies would combine well with apple. Soon you may be able to puree little bits of meat and add it into the posicles. Cooked chicken breast purees well and shouldn't be isn't as noticeable (smell and taste) in a popsicle as pureed chicken leg or thigh. Guest guest
Hi Meleah, It isn't the first time she has tried to say a word, she tries to say things here and there but she never tries to repeat words. She usually just walks around the house trying to say her numbers over and over and over again. I guess you would say 'verbal stimming'. It's definitely the first time she has looked me in the eye and paid attention to me. She actually noticed that I was eating the popsicle and was curious as to why I liked it so much. Normally, she wouldn't give me the time of day! So yes, I am very excited to say the least! She had a wonderful night and we all got kisses from her for the first time in a very long time. She just seems ALOT happier and that is all I have wanted for a long time. I made another batch of popsicles last night and added the carrots like you suggested. We'll see how that goes today. I also made a big batch of chicken soup and i'll try putting some in her juice today. What a difference from when I wrote you all in a panic Saturday - it's like night and day. I can't wait for the day to write you guys and tell you that she just ate a solid food ~~~ I just might pass out so I hope someone is here to help me :-) Have a wonderful holiday to all of you! > > Woohoo!!! Guest guest
Thanks Sheila!! I just gave her a bath and she didn't even freak out when I washed her hair!!!! She usually screams and ducks her head and it's just a big fiasco. Things are definitely coming around :-) Have a great holiday, > > Hi , > > > I can't wait for the day to write you guys and tell you that she just > > ate a solid food ~~~ I just might pass out so I hope someone is here > > to help me :-) > > No worries...we have smelling salts! > > Sheila >
