Guest guest
THis is Doc, my wifes the onew with CP if you recall. She went for her ERCP this afternoon after 10 days of feeling quite well, no real pain. The ERCP showed no blockages, no stones, just some sludge and calcification as we knew. Coming home in the car, she says, Wow, what pain I'm in now. Luckily i brought along a few Vicoden for such an event. Is this pain normal after an ERCP ? The RN said on discharge that she may experience gas, bloating etc bit not the pain she's having !! The Doctor said he will talk with the transplant surgeon tomorrow to strongly consider removing only the head of the pancreas and leaving the tail. He said they have already discussed this the last few days. My wife agrees with that,,, she cant go on living like this, just waiting for the next episode. Any comments on that procedure ? Thanks, Doc.
Guest guest
I have always been told by doctors that it is most common to have a pancreatitis attack after an ERCP. Reason being, the pancreas is a sensitive organ and doesn't like to be touched. Much like the colon. That organ will " go on strike " when handled..so to speak. I have had numerous ERCP's and only twice did I NOT have to be admitted for pancreatitis after it.
Guest guest
Usually i feel bad or " fluish " for up to two weeks, sorry. Re: Pain after an ERCP,,,,, Doc, I too always come down with awful pain after an ERCP. Usually a pancreatic flare. Some doctors are baffled when someone becomes ill after an ERCP. I don't know why. Keep the pain meds coming and lots of fluid. I find that's all I can do for a few days to a week afterwards. Hope this helps. Take care.
