Guest guest
Hi, When Aimee was 23 months she had her first port, I was nervous and afraid at first, after it was done I just thought WOW how great is this and why hadn't we done this sooner? We went through a gambit of picc lines, intramuscular injections into her thighs (the worse thing I have ever done in my life to her). I have managed all of Aimee's IV care since she was 18 months and I tell you the port has been the best thing ever, she just recently had her 3rd port in (she is now 13). I have to thank my sister in law Judy for telling me about the ports, because it really was the best thing ever for Aimee. Thanks Judy! Good Luck with you daughter. Guest guest
My grand daughter had a port for about 4 weeks, when she was just 3 to 4 months old. I think that they put the port in Abby in the radiology area, so that they can see what they are doing. Guest guest
My two year old Madison also has had those problems... we got a port about three weeks ago she is two and 5 months I love it so far they only get poked once a wk and they sure do love the stickers they put on it... Maddie was getting poked 15-20 times for an iv and we moved to cat scans to put pic lines in but just to knock her out they had to use so much medication and her arms were all tore up b.c they couldnt get it im talking 25-50 trys getting one pic line i readily gave Maddie the opportunity avoid all that surgery and pain...personally I know they do not have that many mainlines but i couldnt deal with all the poking and screaming... <3 candace <
Guest guest
Hi my name is BeckyB. and I have a 6 year old Rebekah who got her first port at 7-1/2 months as she was going thru multiple IV's in a day (including cutdowns and picc lines)she had surgery for reflux. She had her first port it had line failure after 2 years she has had this one for almost 3 years.I have to recomend them as they do allow more freedom and less pain.Good Luck.BeckyB.-Mama to 8 -2w/cf-Nana to
