Guest guest
Hey Tammie, I know what your going through, I've had the same remarks from some family members and of course those thats never had a weight problem. Hang in there and don't worry about what they say, its your life, and your decision. You've got to do what is good for you. Guest guest
Tammy, My husbnad is a physician...and believe ME...with 5...almost 6 kids...he wouldn't have let ME have this surgery....nor would my Dr.....if he felt it wasn't in my best interest. We both researched this a lot...and then meeting and talking to Dr R...helped... Hope this helps! Dede... leaving Friday to pick up new daughter Sophie from Romania! Guest guest
> > He doesn't have > a weight problem and thinks this is the EASY way out. GEEZ!!!! Hi Tammy, It's not unusual for people to initially think this is an easy way out.... How ignorant of them. Some easy way out... we are risking our life and changing our life style forever. Ask them if they would be willing to not have coffee or alcohol ever again. Ask them if they would be willing to not eat their favorite fried foods or desserts again. This is far from easy. We all have finally reached this decision because we have already tried everything else. People need to realize that morbid obesity is a medical condition and not all our fault. I think a lot of people will also tell about opposition from their husbands saying it is the easy way out when in reality they are really concerned for your safety and also how it may change the relationship. Tammy, you know what is best for you, don't let other people's ignorance knock you off center. Jane McShane MGB 3/20/00 250 /
Guest guest
Tammy, I have told everyone I know and haven't had one negative thing said. Wasn't sure why, but someone enlightened me. I tell them what I am GOING TO DO, I do not ask their opinion and if they want to discuss it I say, " Go to the website, study and research it all and when you can carry on a conversation about it with me, then we will talk. " That pretty much changes their tune. How can they tell us what we are doing is not good until they research it for themselves? I don't care what anyone thinks, I am just sharing my happy news, no need for their opinions. Hope this helps! ===== Kristi in AL BMI49 current 288 surgery date 9/21 __________________________________________________

Tammy in Wisconsin BMI 50 >> Tammy I wish I had lots of advice for you. people who have never had a weight problem just don't get it. They think it should just be easy to lose, but because they've never had to do it they just can't realize. I've told my husband more than one time to try and comprehend tying a 100 lb. weight on his back and lug it around 24 hrs. a day for a week and then he might understand how tired I feel all the time. I'm lucky he is totally supportive of me. Just try to get your hubby to read the manuel, read at Dr. R's web site and read some of the post here and hopefully that will help him realize. Most of the times our husbands less than enthusiastic reactions are just from loving us and being afraid of something going wrong. Just try to make him see that in life there are always risks, everytime you drive a car you take a risk. I don't know if this helps, I got started rambling. Sorry!!!
