Hello Everyone,

I agree with Trish. I have some wonderful news that I haven't been able to

share for the last two days because I keep turning off my computer after one

or two posts. However, I'm hoping this gets noticed. I GOT APPROVED BY DR.

R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sent my packet next day on Wednesday and received an email on Thursday

evening that I was approved. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Now I am just waiting for my new insurance in DC to kick in. It is effective

9/10/00, but the benefits office has a backlog and has not sent my (and

hundreds of other new teachers) eligibilities to Aetna yet. They say just

pay out of pocket for any med care and you will be reimbursed.

So everyone, be happy for me.

I am a lurker who responds on occasion to different posts. I have to say I do

understand why you haven't shared your great news in the last couple of days.

I do enjoy reading everyone's posts and getting all the info on the MGB, but

the last couple of days have been nothing but verbal abuse and hostility.

Looking at the dramatic drop in posts, I would have to say that many feel

this way also. I hope it's over and done with. But this is great news,

Ruqaya, way tooooooo goooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on your approval!

Now it'll be your turn to do the dance with the good Dr.!!!!!!!!

Rikaya, I have looked high and low for other Aetna insurees. I have Aetna PPO

and sure hope they get me approved. My husband just took early retirement and

I

don't feel comfortable taking this kind of money out of savings when they may or

may not pay it back.. They did pay for any other diet thing I have tried and

say

they will pay if it is medically necessary but I don't know if they realized it

would be preformed in Durham, not a in network facility. Phyllis

Rikaya, congratulations!!! That is great news. We all know how hard

you have worked to get this surgery, even moving to DC so you could

have it. I am so happy for you and only hope your surgery will be as

easy as mine has been. You will reach your goal very soon.

Happy For You.

Phyllis,

I have Aetna PPO administered for Honda. Just call your 1-800

number and ask if Gastric Bypasses are covered for weight loss and

what their critieria for eligibility is. They should be able to give

this to you over the phone. You should not have to guess. Then ask

if they prefer toget paper work or if they prefer paperless pre dert

over the phone. Mine totally disreguarded my fax and my fed-exed

packet becasue they are now Paperless. What they wanted was for barb

to call and talk to them 9 give them basic info from the insurance

letter that Dr R gives you. I asked them what I was suppose to do

because my surgeon's office was strongly of the new school that

patients handle all their own insurance matters. After I repeated

that several times and assured them that I had all the info in front

of me. The asked me the questions. I talked to two nurses over 15

minutes and it was all done. I needed to give them my diet history,

co-morbiditiy codes, the hospital code and the procedure code, my

weight and BMI - that was about it. I should only have to pay 10.00

at clinic and everything else is covered. Don't be afraid to call

them - lay nice and innocent and some nice nurse will help you.

Also,

becasue it was PPO my plan said that Dr. R and Durham Regional

Hospital was in network - I live in Ohio. Hope yours is as easy.

Best Wishes -

Laurie

Ruqaya...Im so glad to hear that you were approved. Im also waiting

approval. I was approved in march by bcbs and then i had to change jobs.

I still have bcbs so I hope that it wont be a big problem. I have a

question...I sent barbara my new insurance info...will she turn this in to

insurance or do they now send you a letter to send to your insurance

company...they have changed so many things I was just wondering.
