Guest guest
Hey : I am attempting this note again. I had it almost done and hit something and " poof " it was gone! Thank you for your kind words. This was my sister's husband and that makes it so bad that I coudl not be there for my own sister. But someone said to me the other day, that when you get married you are as one so my hubby being there is right. WAsn't that insightful? That was 's cousin who told me that and he lost his wife May 20 after 3 years fighting glioblastoma. 49 years old, married 31 years. That was the kindest thing anybody has ever said. I don't know if its that sphincter or not but I am wondering. It does spasm more often but not unbearable. But you have to remember I had those spasms for 14 years (not knowing what they were) before I ever got pancreatitis. As far as a line goes.............I lost my last Broviac November of 2000 on election day because it got septic. Haven't had one since. There really and truly is nothing. I had a venogram done about three years ago and he could not find anything in my neck or arms or anything to put the dye in. The doc was going to just cancel the procedure and I told him to go through the femoral. I didn't want him to get that far and quit. That is when he found out that both brachiocephalics were totally occluded. The MRA only showed one occluded. The interventional radiologist that was on call knows me and said no and wouldn't come check with the ultrasound. When I go back to the doctor, I am going to back em in a corner. Everytime I ask, its kind of like well, lets just wait and see. Nobody wants to make a decision. Could they not do a venous cut down in an emergency? The folks at the hospital that do the IVS, that's all; they do too, the IV specialists and they are screaming at the interventional people, the interventionla people are ignoring them and I am suffering. In 2000 after I laid up there and lost the last vein (I had 7 IVs in four days), they sent me home on IM Demerol and Phenergan. They sent me home with 30 vials of 100 mg Demerol. MY GI doctor did that. My new docs, this is the first time I have had a pancreatiits attack since I had the new family docs so that always gives me a clue as to how good they are. I was impressed believe it or not. The doc wanted me to try and get a pain med by mouth that would work before I could go home. I didn't tell him aboutt he IM Demerol thing but they know I have IM Buprenex and Phenergan here. Right now I am taking OxyIR. It works well. I will keep you in mind if and when I go back to Dr. Cotton. Thank you so much for telling me I could. I don't feel so all alone going back down there, if I do go. I was also dehydrated when I went in and that doesn't help. I stay dehydrated most of the time no matter how much I try not to. AGain and I sound like a broken record, I don't know how the radiology guy can just refuse to come and check things out. This paticular interventional guy is the best one they have, I know that to be a fact. The last time he put a PICC in he said never again. It took him 11 tries, so you can figure how many sticks with all the numbing med and everything. Then when he got it in, within an hour, it got read and hot and swollen, etc. etc and they had to pull it. I get phlebitis very easily and it hurts horribly. When I go to see my GI doc, I am going to ask her to call my general surgeon and talk to him and see if he will attempt it if I need it. He may refuse because the last one they put in up in the OR, he did it and I had no IV access so they did it under nitrous oxide! I got sick and started throwing up right in the OR. Too much laughing gas I guess. Well, didn't mean to ramble on and on. Thanks for the encouragement and if I wind up going back to MUSC, you will be the first one I let know! Thank you so much. By the way, they can't get an L-cath in either, the IV team I mean. This vein thing is not a pancreatitis thing, they were bad before I got sick with pancreatitis and were always hard to access. J ust too small and crooked. Also, if I didn't tell you, they did get one in the second day, but the first dose of Demerol they put in it (without phenergan, I won't let them put phenergan through an IV), it was already blown. It hurt so bad, I let out a scream before I knew what was going on. So they pulled it. Thanks again for your kind words. Kaye
