Guest guest
Hi, Just wanted to mention to you that I have been on methotraxate for exactly one year now. Before I started on it I was in a full time flare all the time. Ear, nose, joint problems, vasculitis the whole nine yards. That went on for 3 years before my dx. The pred. wasn't doing much for me. I put off taking the metho because I was apprehensive about it and I sure regret doing that because I would have saved myself a lot of grief if I had taken it like the doctor told me to. Once the metho started to work, I did great. It does take a while to kick in. I can honestly say that since I have started on it I am doing so much better. Even my doctor said that if I hadn't taken it I might be dead by now. I still get a red ear, joint pain and once in a while a little vasculitis, but it's nothing compared to before the metho. I was able to lower my pred down to 3 mgs. and I'm stuck at that dose right now. Just wanted to rely my experience with metho to you. It may not work for everybody, but it sure helped me. I did try plaquenil before the metho and had to quit taking it because I developed what is called a plaquenil rash. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. There are some in the group though who do fine on Plaquenil. Just depends on the person. What works for one may not work for someone else. Marilyn K.
