Hi everyone:

It has been a few months since I posted. I've been going through

insurance #$%@. Our insurance company had a falling out with my

health care provider organization. It happened while I spent 4

months in the hospital with pancreatitis. (mine is caused by high

triglycerides).

As a result, I am thousands of dollars in debt and couldn't afford to

see my doctor anymore. We finally switched to a in plan doctor but

he is still waiting for records. He got me some of the pain

medication but not the patch. Because I had to go off of it for lack

of a script, I went through withdrawals that were quite painful. I

decided to pass on them for a while to see if I could make it with

out them.

I've been having symptoms and getting into see the new doctor was a

long process. First, they explained that there are people that go

from doctor to doctor just to get the pain meds. I told them, you

don't understand, this is my situation. Do you think I wanted to

leave the doctor I had who knows more about my case than anyone

else? The plain and simple truth is for some reason my body produces

the triglycerides regardless of what my diet is. When I was in the

hospital eating nothing but being fed by an IV bag they were going up

and down, and that bag had absolutely no fat! Now I am starting the

whole process all over again. Two weeks of trying to get into seeing

my new doctor, which included the urgent care unit of this group and

I felt like a ping pong ball.

I finally see this new doctor, and he turned out to be the senior

intern at the hospital I first went to when I had my attack.

(Which does not give me confidence. You see, I went to the closest

hospital where I spent three weeks in ICU and then 1 week on a

general floor. I spiked fevers, was in a lot of pain, and they

decided to cut the pain med. Three days went by while I was in

terrible pain, and I finally had enough. You see they changed interns

at that time, and then those interns cut the pain med. I was telling

them how I felt but they were not listening to me. Finally, I called

them in and said that I did not hire them, I did not ask for them,

but I sure as hec am firing them and I wanted new doctors. Then they

gave me back better pain medicine. Even though I was spiking fevers,

they released me from the hospital with instructions to see my doctor

in 7 days. We set the appointment. We'd asked several times if they

contacted my doctor and we were assured they had, and he was to have

known everything. 7 days later, fevers were being spiked and broken

with tylenol the whole time. I show up at my doctors office too weak

to walk, and was promptly put in the hospital where he was at. There

I spent 4 months. They couldn't even get a scope down my throat, my

stomach was burned, my bile duct blocked and all total 5 drains in my

stomach and one in my bile duct. I can't remember for sure, but I

think this doctor was the one I called in and said I wanted fired

from my case..)

After seeing all these Doctors to get this one finally, it was me who

first suggested getting the blood test to see where I was at. I've

been having back pains, stomach pains, nausea and severe headaches.

(which is new)

He called tonight twice with not good news. At the last blood test

my triglycerides were approaching 700 and the doctor told me then if

it gets to 800 they were going to put me back in the hospital to do

the IV tube feeding to try and get things back to normal.

The new doctor called tonight and said my triglycerides were at

1800! He wants to put me on tricor and some other medicine instead

of lopid. Wednesday he wants another blood test.

Here I sit near bankruptcy over doctor bills, trying to find a better

job and I have a real fear of another attack, and he has not yet read

my records and wants to change medicines on me, and my triglyceride

level is at 1800!

Anyone else have a simular experience that has a good ending that I

can cling to?

Yours in hope,

Bob Potter
