Surgery on Friday for Jodie

Hey all,

Jodie will have surgery on Friday to try to get rid of the fluid behind her

kidneys, since the drains are not effectively eliminating the abcesses. I

realized last night that I will not be able to go back to work in another month.

I can't possibly go through the process of trying to " start the school year off

'right', " and be travelling every night to see Jodie in the ICU. It takes

absolutely too much time and energy to do an 'okay' job of being a teacher, let

alone the 'best' I can be. I will not have the energy or time to do it. I

don't know how long I will be off. I don't know how long Jodie will be in such

a dire situation. But, there's no way I can just go back to 'work as normal'

when the time comes if Jodie is still going through all this. I'm hardly enough

for her as it is. I can't just leave her alone most of the time and work myself

to death while I'm not being there for her. It's just too much.

Well, that was a lot about me, sorry. Anyway, I hope Jodie's surgery is

successful in eliminating the infection. And, I hope she will be done getting

fresh incisions after Friday. I mostly hope she just makes it HOME, eventually.
