I was all set to have the mini gastric bypass. Now I want to do a little more

research before I decide. Do you know specifically what the difference is

between the mini gastric bypass and the " old loop " the only difference I am

finding is the size of the pouch. Now I am also concerned that because the

pouch is larger and elongated that there may be an increased instance of

weight regain. The pouch is able to stretch. With RNY they make a very small

pouch. Then when it eventually stretches, you are supposedly unable to eat

large amounts. If the pouch is larger to begin with, it may be too large

after stretching.

Sorry but I did not see your email request. I believe I have been

approached by 6-7 persons with various concerns of various severity.

The difference in the old loop and the MGB is the elongated pouch. You can

read more specifically on Dr. R's website why it makes a difference. He is a

very intelligent man and has done his research. I can't wait to have this

surgery and meet the man who has changed many lives. Read more about it on

this page:

Dr. R seems to be very thorough in his explanations. He puts out all the

information for you to make a decision. I have decided to go through with

this procedure. Good luck in your decision!

Kaye,

I'm a nurse and in the process of getting my things together to

have this surgery. I've researched all the different surgeries and have

found, that no matter which one you chose, there is possible com-

plications. Also weight gain. I know 2 people who had the RNY done

and lost, but then gained their weight back. They've tried to talk me

out of this, but I know there will be big changes in my eating. And I

still want this surgery. Some people, its just them and no matter

what, its there, but also take into consideration, that some don't

keep up this daily regimen. I pray that I will be a successful one.

I'm looking forward to getting my surgery, so its a decision you've

got to make yourself, because no matter which way you go theres

a chance of complications. God bless in your decision.

I also am a nurse. I am still undecided about which surgery to have. The low

cost of this one is very appealing to me. I may have to self pay. I am doing

some intensive research right now. I am still also working on my packet. I

will post any good info that may help us all. Good or Bad

Kaye,

As a self pay I must say that cost was a factor. Lets face it this is almost as

much as a car or a down payment on a small house for me. I considered the

Alvarado clinic in San Diego and they wanted 23,000.00.

I just wish they had financing set up or they accepted American Express Cards.
