I was furious and totally disappointed. I went for my consult with the full intent of not liking the surgery or my surgeon. I can now only say that I was being watched over. My surgeon was very caring (called me at home the day after I was let out of the hospital) He has performed over 1000 of these surgeries. I had my surgery on 8/8 went in on a Tues. morning went home that Friday. I was back at work after two weeks. I feel great! I have lost 45 lbs so far. So please do not think that this is the only surgery. My total bill was 14850.00 There are many good caring surgeons out there and I thank God I had one of them. Guest guest
well here are my 2 cents. i had my surgery 5/5/00- i am down72lbs...It is a tool, but i also eat what i want...not alot but whatever i can tolerate...i have started exercising my weight loss is adverage... it could be more if i did the nofat route. My point is you will lose. I am sure there are unknowns even for dr.R and when the unkknows happen it is much more ego rewarding to focus on the successes and not probe into the'whys' of one. Thats a professional issue that he must resolveand maybe he has by his lack of response. No one has ever asked me regarding problems....dr.R asked me to share my sugery problems at clinic when i got my staples out. i had a 5 day hospital stay...was i grumppppy...yes!!! did we (dr.r & I) rub each otheeeer the wrong way?yes!!! There was some kind of mix up and he did not go tell my husband how things went...in fact he neverr ment him. when my husband was at the hospital drr was'nt....my husband feels dr. r's bedside manner leaves something to be desired. i said all of that to say this DO I THINK HE IS A BRILLANT SURGEON..YES!!!! AM I GRATFUL FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY...YES. DO I WORSHIP HIM ..NO. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT HE RENDERED A SERVICE . I WOULD LIKE HIM TO TAKE A PERSONAL INTREST IN HOW I AM DOING...BUT I KNOW THAT IS NOT REALISTIC...DR R MAY SHOW MORE INTREST IN SOME VS OTHERS...NOT UNLIKE THE REST OF US WHO TEND TO BE ATTRACTED TO SOME FOR WHATEVER REASON (ATTRACTED TO PERSONALITY:) ) DO I THINK HE IS A CARING INDIVIDUAL...YES,,,BUT HE IS NOT MY NUTITIONIST OR THERAPIST OR PCP... HE RENDERS A SERVICE. HOW INVESTED IS HE WHEN THINGS GO WRONG..IN MY CASE HE WAS OVERLY CAUTIOUS WITH MY 5 DAY STAY, AND I HAVE HAD NO MAJOR PROBLEMS. hE RESPONDS TO MY E-MAILS EVEN THE PANICKY ONES WHEN I THINK I AM NOT LOOSING ENOUGH OR WORRIED THAT THE SURGERY DID'NT TAKE. (ONLY 2)--KNOW THIIS IS LONG, BUT THOUGHT I'D HAVE MY SAY.
