Guest guest
Sue, Thanks for your encouragement. I can't think of anyone that would be better suited for a pump than you are. We have discussed this before, and I do think it's ridiculous that this isn't an option for you right now. Of course you're right about the funding, that's what the true problem is, that, and getting someone there in GB to educate you and get you started. Your doctor and his staff would have to be educated as well, perhaps that's part of the problem, too. Here that's not a problem. There are a few patients under my Endo's care that are already pumper's and his CDNE knows all about it. Since he initially told me when he started with me that he thought I was a perfect candidate for a pump because of my brittleness, etc., I'm confused now by his change of mind. I've already decided that if he isn't willing to recommend it at this visit, that I will contact the Endo that worked with me while I was hospitalized in Savannah last October. That doctor thought I should be on a pump and was surprised that I wasn't. I liked the time he took with me while I was hospitalized, visiting me several times while I was there, to make sure that my diabetic needs were taken care of. Since the nurses had been instructed to leave me alone to do my own thing and all they had to do was bring my insulin to me as I requested it, things worked out quite well, and I didn't have any troubles to report to this doctor. It will be interesting to see what the outcome is. I've pretty much been left on my own with this doctor, too. I've had to make all my own insulin adjustments these last six months as I've gained weight and my requirements have changed. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
