Guest guest
Yes, my stent is supposed to pass on its own. They are still checking to see where it is. I went for a 2nd xray today to make sure it is out of the duct. Thanks for reminding me of the pain med thing,(about calling ahead before you run out). I try my hardest to take the minimum amount of pain meds but end up having to take more to knock out the pain. Right now I take 50mg. of demerol and then 20mg of oxycotin and 25mg of phenergan. Then I am virtually pain- free. I haven't had to take anything so far today. I have had a couple of minutes here and there when I have pain , but then it lets up. I am hoping that I can be off all pain meds soon. If I take 40mg of the oxycotin (even with the anti-nausau med), I end up feeling very nauseated. So that is why I take the demerol too. It just seems to work better with my body. The small dose of oxycotin doesn't seem to bother me as bad as the larger dose. It is wierd how medicine affects people all different ways. - In pancreatitis , " Jensen, " <patricia.jensen@n...> wrote: > Hey > I had the sphincterotomy with stents in Dec. 2003. I was in the hospital for days. I went home for days and was in hospital again for 4 more days. My doctor took the stent out a week after it was put in. Is yours one that you are suppose to pass on its own? Mine was suppose to be. Anyway it took me nearly 6 weeks to recover. I think every time I have an ERCP my Cp symptoms get worse. > > What kind of pain med are you on? I suffered with the same symptoms as you for weeks until my doctor finally put me on OxyContin. Now my dose has been decreased from 40mg to 20mg. I also take Oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Please don't let the pain get so bad that you end up going to the hospital. I think I bothered my GI everyday for weeks before he changed my pain med. > > Just hang in there we are here for each other. > Take Care > Patty J > > > pancreatic stenting questions > > > > Hi all, can anyone tell me approximately how long it takes to > > recover from pancreatic stenting and pancreatic sphincterotomy??? > > It has been almost 3 weeks and I have only had 3 days which I did > > not have to take pain meds.
