Guest guest
Hmmm...all this time we've been assuming that green-colored stools was because of all the spinach and green beans we are eating; those are almost the only veggies right now with the occasional butternut squash thrown in and sometimes cucumber (can't do carrots; one of my kids tested allergic). So, is it actually die-off, and not just a reflection of the content of the diet? I'd LOVE clarification on this, because if it really is die-off, we will be jumping for joy since we have not seen anything else that could be die-off. Help, anyone? Guest guest
Six weeks seems like green die off stools should be gone, but I guess it's possible. Then again, it could be due to the green vegies that you eat so much of. I'm not sure about this case. Guest guest
Hi Tumpa, > My son just went on his own and it wasn't ROCK hard ! YAY! > Although it was GREEN?! Green is good " During the first week or so, it often happens that things look a bit worse. What frightens many moms and dads is that the color of the stool can become bizarre shades of green and yellow. This color change is a good sign: bacterial metabolism is CHANGING. The change is affecting the bile salts and therefore affects the color of the stool. Guest guest
Sheila, For vegetables, those two are the main ones. We use some butternut squash. My ASD son tested IgG allergic to carrots and tomatoes, so we have not been using them. We use some cucumber, but not much. So for vegetables, it is mainly spinach and green beans. Of course we are eating other foods, just not much else for vegetables - and they are eating a lot of those two vegetables. So my assumption has been that the dark green colored stools is because of the vegetables. Hi Lynn, Green stools could indicate die off. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, If actually more green than brown i'd think die off. Have you had the green stools since starting the diet? Have they been mushy that whole time? Did you start with the intro and gradually add food? Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 22yrs mom of and Sheila, For vegetables, those two are the main ones. Guest guest
Yes, we started with intro and gradually added foods. The green stools have been off and on since starting (7 weeks ago). We alternate between mushy and constipated. My ASD son is very constipated. My 4yr old seems to be getting firmer stools than he used to have. The toddler is still consistently mushy. If your four year old's stools were mushy before SCD and now are firming up I'd think that he's headed in the right direction despite the green stools. > The toddler is still consistently mushy. If the toddler's stools haven't changed except gone green I'd consider pulling the spinach and green beans . He may not be tolerating them. Is your toddler also allergic to carrots? What about peeled cooked zucchini and more squash for your toddler? Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
Thanks Sheila; I'll try the veggie change for the little one. Lynn Re: We have mushy poop!Sorry if this offends!
