Guest guest
Hi Chrissy and Heidi, Yes, I'll have to wait to see the result of the EUS to know if there is any urgent problem. I haven't got a date yet for the EUS but I'll probably hear this week. I'll make an appointment to see Prof Neoptolemos after that so that I can discuss the results with him as well as going over all the old ground about the TP....... " To operate or not to operate......that is the question. " as somebody famous once said! I feel about as uncertain as Hamlet anyway! Thanks for listening to my ramblings on this. I have felt so disturbed since Wednesday but now I'm beginning to feel a bit calmer. After all, until I get EUS results, nothing has changed. He's just reminded me about certain uncomfortable facts about my particular case. I can't remember if I mentioned that Prof Sutton (not my usual consultant) also advised me to take all my Creon capsules before a meal, unless it was a long meal, eg. in a restaurant, in which case I could save one, posssibly an extra one, to take at a later point. Previously I've taken one just before starting to eat and the others during the meal. He is also writing to my GP to prescribe Zotan to reduce the acid level in stomach and increase effectiveness of Creon. (It's effective even as I take it now actually.) He wants me to try the Creon before meals first, to observe the effects, and then add the Zotan at a later stage. This is just so that I can see which innovation, if either, has any good effect, without any confusion about which one causes an improvement. How do other people take their enzymes...or. rather, WHEN do they take them? Has anyone else noticed it making a difference? Has anyone noticed things like Zotan making a difference? Heidi, I have both the gluocose tolerance test and the fasting glucose test done from time to time, heeding your warning! On Wed. Prof Sutton said a couple of times a year is fine for testing but I'm always on the look-out for symptoms, especially as I've been told I'm likely to develop the diabetes quickly. You might remember that my pain-in-the-toes problem was the result of fallen arches (!!!!!) in the end, rather than diabetes but I took the signs very seriously. I also have spot checks at the local pharmacy to be on the safe side. Thank you for all the diabetes info. I would never have thought of such serious dangers if you hadn't alerted me. I've now checked out various sites as well so as to keep well-informed before I actually need the info! Thanks to you both. Keep well.
