Hi there - your measurements are basically about the same as my little guy. And one of my first questions to this group was exactly what you are asking now. I think I even had the same subject line! But anyway, today my son received his helmet and I am still waiting for him to have a freak out session. As of right now everything seems eerily normal. Since the helmet was put on today he hasnt acted abnormal at all. He even seems a little bit calmer. Weird. He has only been asleep for about an hour but Ill have to let you guys know how his first night goes. The reason we decided to go forward with it is three medical professionals said he needed it. Of course my friends and family couldnt see what I was talking about at all. Nobody I know thinks he needs it. We found out our insurance covered the

entire cost and we are also lucky enough to have Cranial Tech just 30 minutes away. So we said 'why not?' What could it hurt? So far so good.....- Cole got his DOCband today and is sleeping right now! From: mama2zoe <tarmeg@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Monday, December 1, 2008 7:18:14 PMSubject: The Decision - To Band or Not To Band?

My little guy had his Cranial Tech appointment today (everyone was so

nice) and now my hubby and I have the big decision to make. Here's the

scoop (please excuse my lack of medical terminology for all of this):

his ear and eye asymmetry is 3 mm, which is within normal range. The

axis (??) measurement (front to back diagonal) was 12 mm which puts

him in the low to moderate range. Basically his plagiocephaly isn't

incredibly noticeable. I know that the decision is strictly up to my

husband and me, but I just HATE the fact that we are even having to

think about putting our child through this. Please help!!!

You are so fortunate that insurance paid! Ours won't pay a dime and

the staff at Cranial Tech said a parent sued our insurance company

over it. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court and ...

nothing!! AGH! Money isn't a deciding factor for us, but it would

still be nice to have the band covered! :)
