Guest guest
I would go ahead with a second dose later in the day.... not sure you need to make it as small as 1/8 tsp if she's already tolerating the 2 tsps in the morning. I'd go ahead with maybe a full tsp. I would watch her for a day or so before increasing. Have you seen any reaction at all .... good stuff or bad.... so far from the yogurt? How long has she been eating it? Some say it's good to give the yogurt right before bed... then the good flora have all night to settle in and do their thing, so that might be a good time for the second dose. Patti Guidelines for increasing dose of yogurt??? My daughter is now tolerating 2 tsps of goat yogurt (homemade). I've been giving it to her in the morning. I've been wondering the best way to increase. Sometimes she's been asking to have more, later in the day. Is it okay to give it to her twice per day? If she can have it a second time during the day would I start out with the same dose she is tolerating or would I back down to 1/8 tsp? When increasing the dose should I just keep increasing every day by about 1/8 tsp and back down if she doesn't tolerate it? Thanks for any input! Guest guest
She can have the yogurt multiple times per day. You can try increasing by 1/4 or 1/2 tsp. at a time. For my experience, once I got iel up to a fair amount, I was able to just jump in and give him about 1/4 cup with no problem. That was just us though, and she might not be able to handle that. Definitely keep increasing though. Meleah Guidelines for increasing dose of yogurt??? > My daughter is now tolerating 2 tsps of goat yogurt (homemade). I've > been giving it to her in the morning. Guest guest
Thanks! We have definitely seen gains from the yogurt. She seems to be playing alot more with her toys. We had a week of formed, dark stools which was miraculous, but as I moved forward with her diet (increased vegetables) we lost it - however it could have been more yeast die-off I suppose. Hard to know. I moved back to an elimination diet over this weekend, with the yogurt too. And her progress is just amazing, she can tolerate an elimination diet now without much difficulty. When we first did it she was a wreck! We started the yogurt about 6 weeks ago now I think, we've been through about 3 batches. We've had a lot of input that she is talking more. What stands out to me is that she has seemed much more interested in her toys, playing more, watching tv less. She seems to be socializing with the other kids more. Things like hoarding and lining up toys has decreased. Some negatives include itching/sensitivity in her private (any input on how to help this?), itching on her body (scratches her head alot) but that is about it. Jen, Mom to Evie 4 years old SCD since June 06, at recent IEP teacher said " I don't know what you did over the summer but she came back a different kid " - WOW! I know what I did this past Summer - SCD! > > I would go ahead with a second dose later in the day.... not sure you need to make it as small as 1/8 tsp if she's already tolerating the 2 tsps in the morning.
