Guest guest
Elaine told me Instant Coffee was illegal because it may have added starch. here is what I found so far about Swiss Water Decaf: The term " water process " alone means nothing as all decaffeination methods use water somewhere in the process. Similarly, the term " natural "  is often used because the chemical ethyl acetate, often used to decaffeinate coffee, can be naturally derived from citrus fruit or sugar cane. However, the volume required for decaffeination requires that ethyl acetate be derived synthetically, and the fact is, ethyl acetate could be harmful if ingested. A growing number of consumers don't want to take any chances, they want their coffee to be decaffeinated using a chemical free method. I am assuming she knew about the one with additives. I remember asking her about the Swiss water method and I think she said " no " to that but it doesn't make sense. I guess the person could try it and see if there are any effects. I like my 1/2 cup of diluted real coffee once a day b/caffeine kick gets me moving :-) Carol F.
