Guest guest
Jean, Hi! I did have a hysterectomy for cysts as well while dealing with pancreatitis just about 4 weeks ago. The surgery didn't seem to have any affect on my pancreas except while I was in the overnight room recovering. My gyno wasn't aware of the medications that can cause pancreatitis, and I was given pain medicine, torodol I think it was called?, which made my pancreas pain worse while I was given it. He increased my dosage of same meds with shots in between to alleviate my panc attack which made it worse. It all happened in the middle of the night so it was nurses calling him to see what they could do for my pain. When I saw him the next day we talked about my concerns that maybe the meds were given me flare ups. He changed me to what I was on before, and all was well. So I would recommend you have your daughter talked to the gyno about the medicines she is on for pain and what works for breakthrough pain and all so she can be adminstered something that will work for her. The other thing she may have to think about is HRT therapy depending on her age. ( I am 28) My doc has me on a low dose patch, which he said prevents the estrogen meds from flowing through your digestion tract and goes straight to blood stream. Not sure how oral meds would affect the pancreas, but patch has been working great for me. Hope that helps! If there is any thing else I can answer for you, let me know! Wishing your daughter quick healing! Does she have a family already? Angie B. p.s. Jean, you can search the forums for hysterectomy also because I know it has been in the discussions within the last month.
