, I am soooo glad to hear that you are

feeling a bit better and a lot more hopeful!! I think

we need to hang on to these moments! When I get down

and feeling sorry for myself I think back to how AWFUL

I felt all the time a few years ago, and that makes me

feel better all by itself!! You keep up the good

work.

However I would sound a note of caution about the

blood sugars, my sugars went up the first time I was

on pred, but they said oh, no, you are not diabetic,

just keep an eye on things. (Whatever that means!!)

When I noticed symptoms, thirst, excessive urination,

some years later, I realised what it was and went to a

doctor who thought I was neurotic! He said " oh dear,

you're very upset, do you want to see a psychiatrist? "

I almost yelled at him, NO I WANT MY BLLOD SUGARS

CHECKED! So he checked it an it was normal, about 95.

Then he did a Glucose Tolerance test, and it was

244!! But I didn't need to take meds for it until

after about three years. Even now, I reckon if I

could get totally off pred I could probably get off

Metformin!!

At the risk of being naggy, if I were you I would try

an adopt a healthy eating strategy if you have not

already done so, (lots of veggies, not too much bread

and potatoes and dessert!) Exercise regularly, i.e. 20

minutes walking per day. And get a machine and check

your own blood sugars from time to time, first thing

in the morning, and a couple of hours after eating.

The reason for doing this is that most of the damage

is done before people are aware they have diabetes,

and by being agressive about it minimises damage. A

very helpful book I found was Diabetes II and What to

Do. Also there is loads of info available on line.

If you adopt a good lifestyle it is not a big problem.

I have told this story before, and maybe I should not

laugh, but one of the people who works in our house

here told me very sadly that his Grandmother had died

of diabetes. " I am so sorry, , " I said, " how old

was she? " " One hundred and four " , he replied. I was

slightly stunned and couldn't think of anything to

say!

So even if it does turn out that you are diabetic it

is not the bad sentence it was some years ago,

lifestyle changes can help enormously. Anyway, sorry

to preach! Again I am so pleased you are beginning to

feel better, take care and keep up the good work.

Love Liz

(LA). I'm so glad that things are finall looking up for you. It's

a great feeling huh? You keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Yes, I have sore feet too. They say mine are from lipoma (fatty tumors ) in

my feet. The pain now is going up my calves. Drs. don't know what it is.

LOL Wish I could help you more, if you find out about the feet, I'd love to

hear.

Please take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Hey liz-I will take any advice I can get, escpecially after

bottoming out Sunday-where do I get one of thos test things? I have

started watching what I eat just in the past few months. You see I

used to be skinny minny-you know 5'8, 132, blonde, size 4 to 6----now

I am 182 and well FAT. I have started execising but Dr. Luthra

doesn't want me doing too much, so I have to watch it, I guess

because of the probms with my trachua adn my liver. I really don't

know, but I do take it easy and eat very healthy. Have you heard

anything about the drug cellcept? What about the feet, heard aything

about that? I am still having bad problems. Keep me posted?
