Guest guest
Chrissy As I'd said before, since my recent HBA1c's have been 5.5% and 5.6%, my endo feels that I don't need a pump!!! Hogwash! Of course the way they get to be those numbers is because I check 6-10 times a day and inject insulin anywhere from 6-10 times a day, too, never allowing myself to stray above a BG of 120 if I can help it. It takes a tremendous amount of maintenance to get those non-diabetic scores. So these last three months I purposefully haven't been checking so often, thus I haven't been doing as well, so perhapsnow he will change his mind. It's a shame that I should have to intentionally be less diligent, but I think that's the only way I can convince him that I'm a good candidate. I also have problems because of my " dual wave " pattern of digestion. I don't digest protein until about 2 1/2 - 3 hours after I eat, so I have to dose twice for each meal, once when I eat and then again 2 1/2 hours later. If I don't, my BG quickly climbs into the 200's at hour three. So we'll see at this next appointment, which is in June, I believe. My hbA1c is probably going to be lousy, and I plan to hit him up again for the pump. The wedding in September 18th and no oyster roast this time. Were it less formal, that would have been great fun, but instead we're going with a varied selection of delicious heavy hor d'ourves along with a seafood station, game station, and carved meats table. The menu is quite fantastic except for the fact that the caterer has now quoted a fee three times higher than that which they originally said it would cost.......I absolutely hate it when people do things like that. and did add some items to the menu, but they also took away comparable selections trying to keep it within the same parameters. They quoted us $1,000 just for coffee to be available after dinner! Isn't that hysterical? Needless to say, wrote them a scathing letter, reminding them what their original quote was, and the two of them will be meeting with the caterer's next week to get that mess straightened out. I am going up next week to help her with the fabrics for the bridesmaids dresses and to meet with the florist. I hope you enjoyed your swim this afternoon. Today was a perfect day for it, except for the wind - here it was quite stiff! I took a dip off the dock myself and swam for about 15 minutes this afternoon. There were about twenty buzzards on the dock when I went down, they had something juicy they found in the marsh and were standing watch over their prize. I couldn't quite make out what it was that they had. Both my cats were safe in the house, and the dog was with me, so I knew that at least my own critters weren't the vulture's lunch. Our lab, , had the greatest time chasing them off the dock, but wouldn't come in the water with me once we got down there. The water temp was is still refreshing this time of year....by August it will feel like a saltwater bathtub! With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
Chrissy, You first day at work is over and today you are resting well, I hope. It sounds like you managed to conquer that first step back into the working mode successfully, if not without some discomfort. I hope you're able to replenish today and that each and every day ahead will go just a bit better and better for you. I hope you're doing well today and just planning to take it easy. Enjoy our sunshine and maybe today it won't rain? Wishful thinking, right? Take good care of yourself, Chrissy, I've been worrying about you, but I think you're doing fine. I'm off this morning to the flower lady in Beaufort to discuss all the wedding flowers....fun! I'll send you a note offline when I get a chance later today. I really appreciate your offer earlier, and maybe we can do something about it. Think good thoughts, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. Guest guest
Gluten-free means that the foods are not made with any wheat, barley, rye or oats in them. Gluten is a protein found in the plants. So basically everything on the market from pasta to cookies, is made with some sort of gluten. When someone has celiac disease, the gluten produces an allergic reaction in the body and our bodies send out cells to attack the area where gluten is digested (in the small intestines). Therefore the small intestines stays damaged and does not absorb nutrients. It is an auto-immune disease and the only cure is to eat a diet that is gluten-free. I onyl found out in march of this year because Dr. Lehman decided to take a further look around when he did the ERCP. I do feel better with my bowels and I can once again eat dairy foods. He was hoping that I might be able to gain some weight too but that has not happened. Unfortunately the pancreatitis has gotten worse and my weight has dropped alittle. He had mentioned to me about maybe having a celiac nerve block to try to help with the pain. I don't know if he does them but I am guessing that he does since he mentioned it to me. Don't know. I go to see him again in september. I'll let you know if he does. Are your kids starting school soon?? The public schools here are starting on Aug 9th I think. I'm not sure, my kids are homeschooled. Yes, I know, big commitment, especially with the pancreatitis. It definitely has been a challenge some days. But my kids are very well behaved and they help out alot. The nice part is that they can travel with me anytime for medical care and such. So it has helped in that way too. I hope you are feeling better today with you panc pain. Take care Kris in TN
