Guest guest
My name is . I had my surgery 090600. I had a complication. I don't know what is going on here, but I do know this. I had to be placed in ICU after my surgery, due to a breathing problem. I was really, really sick. I may have died. I know for a fact that Dr. Rutledge was always there checking on me and checking with the doctors to make sure that I was going to be OK. I was sedated of course, but sometimes I would wake up and he would be sitting there, or standing there. Like I said, I don't know what is going on and will not address it again because I don't like a lot of mess. I will say this and I am finished. I owe my life to Dr. Rutledge, and anyone who says that he do not take care of you when you are sick or have a complication is not being truthful. I hope this dies down. Like I said, I don't like a lot of mess. I love you all and we are in this together. May God bless all of you is my prayer. Guest guest
Hi. I just finished sending you my contact info. I did want to say that Dr. R wants to see us at one year post-op. He is very involved with your PCP in your care also. I got an email from Dr. R at one month post-op asking for my one month information. I have had seven surgeries, and I don't remember ever having to follow-up with the surgeon after having my staples removed. My PCP did all of my follow- up after those surgeries, too, so I guess that is just the was surgeons are. Dr. Rutledge REALLY wants us to be informed about our decision to have WLS. I don't think that the patient letter is to protect him(you will have to do " that " stuff in the hospital before your surgery when you have to fill out a ten page(or so)form going through what he is going to do and write a summary of what he is going to do to you in your own words. The nurse calls it Dr. R's " test " . It is obvious that THAT is to protect him from someone saying that they did not fully understand what they had agreed to by having surgery. When I went to clinic, Dr. R told us to plan to be there for hours and that if we were not willing to stay for the entire clinic we should leave now. He said that if we were not willing to stay, we would not qualify for surgery. He just wants you to know exactly what you are getting in to and wants to be sure that YOU understand what he has written in his manuel. You prove that by writing your patient letter. It really is for your own protection and it also keeps us from having to have the dreaded psyc exam where the psychologist goes over all of that stuff with you and charges an arm and a leg. Hope I answered all of your contact questions and I hope you get to see the REAL test(that protects Dr. R)very soon! Guest guest
Pretty strong words there! I don't think anyone is accusing him of not taking care of them, just not being as " hands on " and " there in person " as they may have liked. You were in ICU--I wasn't. I'm very glad that he was often at your bedside--but I only saw him one time from Monday night until Thursday afternoon. I know he is extremely busy--but I would have felt better if I had seen more concern out of him! That doesn't mean that I'm not being truthful--it's a combination of my opinion and the facts. > My name is . I had my surgery 090600. I had a complication.
