Guest guest
Hi everyone! My name is Judy, I live in Philly, am 55, an RN, BMI of 44 (and born in 44) and I've been reading these posts for about a month now. In the meanwhile, I have researched my eyes off, and have decided absolutely that I want the MGB and of course, Dr. R. Last week my letter from Dr. R went to the insurance company. In follow up, I called to be sure it had arrived and was being processed. Empire BCBS said that this pre-cert takes 4-6 weeks---for cosmetic procedures such as this . . . WHAT????? Cosmetic? Are they kidding? So, my question is, how do y'all feel about this.. . I do not want to wait 4-6 weeks, and I don't want them to even think that I will! So, I have asked an attorney to write a letter and state nicely that we don't want to have to litigate, but there is nothing cosmetic about this procedure, it is proactive and preventative, and medically necessary, and if you don't give her an answer in a week or so, then the lines are drawn. Whadya think? My nerves will not last til whenver they get around to it. Then what, they deny and we go on and on and on? Meanwhile I get way past the age limit (55) and as a bonus, I'll no doubt get another diagnosis or two in the interim! No way. Anyone elso out there with this insurer? Anyone else out there from Philly? Any ideas? I guess I could find a way to borrow the $, but I really don't want to. Please welcome me into the group and give me your best advice. Thanks a bunch, Phillyjude
