Guest guest
Cipro has never caused that in Rebekah and she has been on it for 6 weeks at a time.Could she have caught a virus? How old is she? Could she be teething? It would seem if it was related to the Cipro it would have happened sooner. If Rebekah has a problem with any antibotics it shows up either within minutes (hives, lacy rashes) or hours with the problem your daughter is having .Sometimes finding the answer is hard but keep on doing what you are doing .BeckyB.---Mama to 8--2w/cf--Nana to
Guest guest
Joe, Acidophilus will do the trick. I am not sure how old Abby is, but sometimes the amount of Acidophilus in yogurt is not enough, and also sugars can deplete acidophilus, so the fruited yogurts may not be enough acidophilus. The acidophilus milk is also a good idea. What I have done and continue to do is take Acidophilus capsules, or Megadophilus. They are found in the natural food section of a grocery store , or a health store. They should be refrigerated as well. Good luck Joanne > Abby has been on Tobi and Cipro for about 2 weeks. Guest guest
Joe, You may know this, but antibiotics kill the good and the bad bacteria. When I have my kids on antibiotic, non-cf included, I give them yogurt, buy milk with acidophilus, and a I give her probiotics, she takes zithromax everyday, so she takes florabear probiotics everyday. This is to replenish the natural flora in their body, that the antibiotic kills. I hope that helps. > Abby has been on Tobi and Cipro for about 2 weeks. Guest guest
Joe, That's one side effect of antibiotics on everybody, diarrhea, caused by the depleting of the good flora in the intestinal tract. > > Abby has been on Tobi and Cipro for about 2 weeks. Guest guest
The doctor just called and said to skip the Cipro tonight and concentrate on getting the absorption straightened out. Said she probably wouldn't absorb the Cipro anyway. To give her pedialyte and a bland supper then call the office in the am. Her regular ped. will be in tomorrow. Said it could be a virus or possibly the Cipro, however she's had Cipro before and never had a problem. I'm having second thoughts about skipping the Cipro. I'd like the ped. to listen to her chest though. I've heard a few slight pops occasionally hear lately - easily cleared without even coughing but my wife has heard it too. Thanks. Guest guest
Joe, Piper was started on Tobi and Cipro on Monday, and we are having the same problem! Her diarrhea is so loose it is like water, now her bottom is so raw that it is bleeding in places. I have a call in to the Pulmonologist on call, but haven't heard from them yet. On Monday night I took her to the ER where my husband is a nurse, because she was throwing up and had diarrhea and fever, I was afraid that she would dehydrate, so they started an IV and ran some fluid in her, they really thought that it was just a stomach virus since my son had the same thing. Well, my son is better, and it seems that Piper's diarrhea is worse. Hopefully the Pulm. on call will call us back soon, so I can let you know what he says. I hope that Abby is better soon!!! Guest guest
Hi, gets the WORST diarrhea from cipro. It sounds like she isn't too uncomfortable yet, but I hope they do something for her quickly! Cipro/Diarreah? - Need Advice Abby has been on Tobi and Cipro for about 2 weeks. About 3-4 days ago she started having some loose stools. She gets Cipro at 6:30 am and pm. Since she can't have milk with it I've been giving it on an empty stomach in the am. I decided a couple of days ago to give her a little juice and a cookie with it in the am to see if that helped. It didn't and today the diarreah came on heavy. She's had 3 bad ones in 2 1/2 hours. Kathy is gone and I'm not having fun. The clinic is closed today so I called her ped. (also closed) and left a message for the nurse to call. I wanted to see if anyone here could give some advice. Abby acts fine and has been playing all morning. I just bathed her and put her down for a nap. Chloe (2 1/2) just had a bm and it was normal. I wonder if this is cf related or the Cipro or what? I'm getting concerned about dehydration. Okay, nurse just called and is going to page the doctor on call for a plan. She admitted she knew very little about CF. Any advice would be appreciated.
