Guest guest
Hello Margaret, Can't think what rules you could have thought you might be breaking!! I'll just say hello and welcome from all of us who use this site. I know you will receive a lot of support from a lot of excellent friends here, some who will have a similar pattern of illness to your own, and many who have years of personal research behind them as well as their own experience of the disease. Obviously, we're not docs and simply share our ideas and experience. I'm sure you'll find another good doc and hospital where you are moving to. I'm in the UK so I know nothing about the US hospitals other than what I read. You'll probably get some reassurance from someone who lives in your new region. I have hereditary pancreatitis. I've had symptoms since childhood but only got my final definitive diagnosis last year......54 years after my first attack!!! My mother also had pancreatitis. I do understand about the job and how much you want to keep it. I was so ill last year that I worried terribly about having to resign from the job I love....and I'm 58! So I can well imagine how someone younger feels. There are many on this board in similar work situations with similar worries. I'm lucky because I have been in my present school for 10 years and got a great deal of support from all my friends and colleagues, especially the head (I'm his deputy) who is always telling me to take things easier. It does make a difference having that suport and I can understand the difficulties when you're in a new job with your career ahead of you. Hopefully there won't be any major problems. It sounds as if you have the pain situation under control. Do you also take enzymes (eg. Creon) to help digestion? Maybe the docs don't think you need them. I expect you follow a low-fat diet as well as eliminating alcohol? It's not always easy to explain why one doesn't drink, is it? In to-day's society it's quite unusual I suppose. Still, I'm always welcomed as the driver on social occasions now! We save a fortune on taxis! Well, welcome again and have a good Sunday. Mine has begun as we're a few hours ahead of you! I could not have got through the last 12 months without the support of the people on this board and I know you'll find it helpful as well. With very good wishes, Fliss (UK)
Guest guest
Hello Fliss, nice to " meet " you. Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Yes, I was on enzymes but the GI at hospital took me off them until " later " . They were not helping that much. Yes I also follow a low fat diet, no alcohol, low calorie and try to get some walking in, etc. I was up til 8am with pain and I joined several other pancretitis groups, but the others have not approved me yet, does it show I am looking for support? lol Hereditary panc, yuck - my thoughts are with you, and everyone on this board. Kurt, yes, I can rarely lie down during an attack, over half the time I cannot even lean against anything. Not much else to say so until next time best, Margaret > Hello Margaret, > Can't think what rules you could have thought you might be > breaking!!
