Guest guest
Hey there, No I don't take enzymes. My doctor hasn't advised that yet so I am just coasting along. I take donnatal for spasms. That may or may not help you. Also I wanted to tell you that the pancreatic enzymes don't have to be elevated to be having an attack of pain. Alot of people's enzyme levels dont elevate during an attack. Mine do sometimes but not always. I have had numerous MRCP's. They are fine, no pain or preperation needed but a 4 hour fast. Very easy test. Alot of times they can tell if something is going on and it is much safer than the ERCP. Of course if the MRCP shows anything, you will need an ERCP to further evaluate your condition. Sometimes people get pain after ERCP's and some people are completely fine too. Everyone is different. I don't know what part of the country you are located but I'm sure alot of people on this board can direct you to a specialist near you if an ERCP is needed. I personally love Dr. Lehman. He is located in Indianapolis, IN. I travel 5 hours to see him. Not so bad considering I used to travel 15 hours to PHiladelphia, PA for a specialist there. Some days I feel fine and some days I get these attacks of pain that start suddenly and are excruiating. Somedays I have constant pain all day long. It varies. I have had 3 good days so far this week. The pain is usually located under my left ribs and sometimes spreads across my upper abdomen to the right side ribs. I also get stabbing back pain. I always get huge waves of nausau and run a low fever too. Everyone's pain pattern is different. One doctors opinion does not make a definite diagnoses either. If you don't feel that your current doctor is serious about your condition then it is time to get another doctor. Also, SOD, pancreatic disease and biliary disease are difficult to diagnose and us patients usually spend a great deal of time searching for answers. I hope you are feeling better today.
