Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to this site, but not new to the problem. This started in 96 after my gallbladder was removed, started the cycle of " gallbladder-less " attacks, ER visits, ERCP's and lots of pain and frustration. I had 1 good year of minimal pain until 2 years ago when I had an attack and had elevated LFT's and pancreatic enzymes, and my U/S showed a blocked bile duct.. on to Loma Medical Center where I spent 10 days every month for pancreatiits, had stents in my bile duct, pancreatic duct and then removed. Last stay I ended up with Asscending Cholangitis and no more stents. I remained on Pancreatic enzymes and nexium for my GERD and had again, minimal pain for about a year. Occ. I would be woken with the familiar deep crushing spasms going through my back and nausea but they would go away eventually. My pancreatic enzymes were always elevated and LFT's too, although they would drop down. The last attack my enzymes were elevated, and LFT's were in the 1500's, with an u/s showed a dilated bile duct, again.. another 10 day hosp stay. Since then I had an MRCP which was normal and U/S endoscopy which was normal. My enzymes went to normal but I still have daily pain and was woken the other night with that pressure. I take creon and actigal and vicodin occ. 1 in the PM.I constantly feel tired and scared I will get really sick again. Eating is not fun, I watch everything and the digestion part is another thing, although I have gained weight b This is so frustrating and at times just depressing. Guest guest
I find that if I am craving chocolate I can eat the sugar free russel stovers chocolates or other sugar free ones and get by just fine. BUT..I always like to try protein first before I give into any craving. It seems if I eat some kind of meat/fish when I am having a craving or a very hungry day it just stops my cravings in their tracks most of the time. Colleen Lap-RNY 11/03/03 315/193/??? > Hi. Guest guest
I started out with less than a teaspoon a day and I didn't tolerate that amount until after months on the diet. I worked up from there. It usually lasts as long as the milk was good for or 14 days. The bacteria start dying after a time so the probiotic affect is gone after a while. If it makes it to 2 weeks, you could always use it in cooking or making frozen yogurt which would have killed most of the probiotics anyway. I love smoothies. I've been make them with 1 cup dripped yogurt, 1 cup cooked figs, and 1/2 cup frozen strawberries. Absolutely delish and thick and creamy. Bummer I'm out of yogurt. Misty Kimble CD - no meds SCD - Jan 2008 > > Ok .. Just made my first yogurt.. followed the book to the " T " .. How long is this good for?.. I never ate yogurt before.. SO I how do I know when this stuff goes bad?.. How much of it should I try to consume daily.?. I try to make a milk shake of some kind with fresh or frozen fruit each day. Should I be doing more? > > > Diagnosed September of 2009 >
