Guest guest
>> Elaine covers tea in two sentences on page 76, edition 10 of BTVC under " Other Beverages. " I do not understand why the need for all this research when the rules of the diet are outlined in simple and clear terms in the book. Elaine spent several decades researching the diet created by Dr. Haas. No need to do it all again unless it is a hobby. << Carol, The reason Jazz is asking about other herbal teas is because 1. she can't tolerate anything with caffeine in it, not even diluted 2. all decaff beverages are, of course, SCD-illegal 3. she cannot (for other health issues) drink mint teas. Elaine stated on more than one occasion that she was not an herbalist. Her specialty was gut biology, to all of our benefit. It's truly sad that she is no longer with us to be able to give a case by case review, as she did for me. I take a supplement which is not SCD legal for muscle spasm in my back. My alternative was and is codeine. Lots and lots of codeine. We discussed what I was doing and concluded that my supplement came under the heading of " necessary medicine, even if it contains illegals. " However, you are correct that the base line is " no other herbal teas " . Jazz, I'm not Elaine, but I do know herbs and herbal preparations fairly well, and I do know SCD forwards, backwards, sideways, and upside down. If you'll contact me off list, perhaps we can come up with something that is drinkable and, which may work within the unique parameters of your situation. That way, we won't risk confusing folks who don't have your combination of circumstances. The bottom line on SCD is exactly that -- nothing except regular coffee, tea, or the mint teas. -- Marilyn (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) Undiagnosed IBS 25 Years, SCD Five Years Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Carol, Perhaps you misunderstood Jazz's post? I believe she was posting the definition and list of mucilaginous herbs so that we would all know exactly which ones NOT to use. In this case, I assume everyone would appreciate knowing which herbs were included in that description... and even though it is technically " discussing illegal foods " ... it was intended in an effort to alert everyone as to which plants were included in that group. Patti ----- Original Message ----- <<The herbs you mention may be laxative and are prohibited. Please stop the references to illegals. It can confuse newcomers. Our list rules ask u not to discuss illegal foods.>>

I thought Jazz was suggesting we use the herbal teas that Eliane prohibited. I linked that to our guidelines to not discuss illegal foods. I am sincerly sorry to have offended anyone or to have taken offense. Carol F.
