Guest guest
Oats would be fine if you could get pure oats, however, the oats grown in many areas are contaminated with upwards of 5% wheat and rye. The wheat and rye " volunteers " in the oat fields and gets harvested and processed with the oats. Here is a link which explains this a bit http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/s478453.htm Quaker in the US is very concerned about the contamination of oats by volunteer wheat and is doing research on minimizing this contamination. It gets very confusing! Margaret, also celiac Dr. Lehman told me to follow a gluten-free diet. I > have read that oats have a different kind of gluten in them and that > oat flour is ok for some patients. I will call to ask the doc if it > is ok or not to eat cereal with oat flour in it.
