Guest guest
Hi - My son was banded at 17 months old, wore 2 bands from Cranial Tech, and we got a LOT of correction. Not sure where you are in Florida, but there is a Cranial Tech in Miami, I believe. They band up to 24 months old, so they're really your best chance, in my opinion. I would ask the surgeon to take a chance on you. I know the specialist we saw said it was too late for my son as well, but I basically broke down in tears and said I at least wanted to try. My son's before and after photos are in the Older Plagio Kids folder under Jake W. I'm actually going to email you the PDF version of it as well, feel free to take it with you as some sort of proof that it's not too late. You can also mention to him that my son is close to turning 3 now, and what little asymmetry he had when he graduated from the band, is still there. So it still has magically rounded out on its own. Good luck! Please let me know how it goes! Jake-2.5 (DOCBand Grad 9/08) Jordan-5 > > hello! > I'm new to the group. > My baby is now 17 month old, he was a preemie born at 26 weeks. His plagio was noticed very early but his pediatricians kept telling me it would fix by itself. When he was 13 month I decided to see a specialist too late by then of course. We were told it's mild and that it's too late for anything other than surgery which she doesn't recommend because it's " only cosmetic " . Everytime I look at him from the top I get enraged with the pediatrician and myself for trusting too much. So I'm bringing him tomorrow again to the craniofacial surgeon to ask more and try to get over it, I guess. But is it really only cosmetic? And is it relly too late for bands? > > Thank you > ,Fl >
Guest guest
Just wanted to clarify my last sentence...it still has NOT magically rounded out on its own. Sorry! Guest guest
Thank you . I'm getting ready to go see Dr Ricalde here in Tampa, to answer Jen also that's where we live. I'm going to bring Jake's pictures with me. Thank you for your replies. I so regret not to have thought about this before. Hopefully we can still do something. I'll let you know how it goes. <div> <dir> <dir><i><font face= " Medium " size=5> Â <br></dir></dir></i></font></div> ----Original Message Follows---- From: " " <nwilkens2275@...> Reply-Plagiocephaly Plagiocephaly Subject: Re: 17 month old too late for band Date: Wed, 24 Jun 2009 11:03:00 -0000 Hi - My son was banded at 17 months old, wore 2 bands from Cranial Tech, and we got a LOT of correction.
