Guest guest
Kim, If you are around, we have been doing Solgar's chelated Mg, I just checked the bottle and I thought they were 400 mg per tablet, it turns out they are 100 mg per tablet, so she is only taking 200 mg per day, I think I am going to go to 4 tablets per day, what do you think? She is taking Zithromax and Lavequin at breakfast and all supplements with dinner at night. Inhalations of Lema oil twice a day while doing the vest. Yesterday, her doc repeated the spirometry (sp) and her pft's were way up, 88%,82%,78% so I was very happy, so was she. The doc told her if her pft's were not up, she was going on iv's. Also, did you get the lemon tree oil, did you like it, let me know. I am ordering a couple of bottles of lema oil, we all like here, except Pepe, my baby, he calls it a smell. But I had a bad runnynose and I got a good swig of the lema oil vapors and it worked like magic. Thanks Kim, > The study I looked at said that > > statistically on avg. it turns mucoid within a couple of years. Guest guest
, Yes, I like the lemon scented tree tea oil very much. Twice it has helped stop sinus infection symptoms when I put a drop of it on cotton balls and put the balls in my ears overnight. Both Zithromax and Levaquin will deplete the body of magnesium (as will albuterol or Zopenex if she is doing any breathing treatments), so you might want to increase Mg while she's on antibiotics. Magnesium dosing is so individual. Remember that one mom's young son is taking 1,000 mg. per day -- three times the FDA RDA adult dose; yet, when she reduces dose to around 700 mg. daily, asthma symptoms and wheezing returns. I take about 600 mg. per day, some days I need more when I'm really stressed, dehydrated or doing things that I know deplete magnesium. Stress is a big magnesium-depletor. You just have to learn to really listen to your body. takes his Zithromax before bed and magnesium early in the day. The body likes vitamins and minerals earlier in the day. I don't remember Levaquin dosing. Isn't it two, three or four times per day? That would make giving magnesium tricky. Just be sure to give magnesium no sooner than two hours after any antibiotics, not before. Is a also taking a probiotic while on antibiotics? Guest guest
Our child is three and has had intermittent PA for the last year. We brought up Zithro to our doc, but he was hesitant to try it until more studies have been completed on it. Another doctor I talked too told me he prescribes Zithro to toddlers all the time with asthma for short term (0-3 month periods), but his only concern was the long term use on young children. We bought the solgars magnesium and it came in large, not very good tasting, tablets. Our child is on albuterol right now(he is on it consistently) and uses thes vest. I would like to start him on Mg supplements. How is everyone getting toddlers/kids to eat the Solgars??? Anyone know of kid friendly brands of Mg? Just some words on research I keep up with. Two new methods of mitigating CF lung symptoms are in pre-clinical work and I found them fascinating. One is a new form of gene therapy using scrunched DNA as opposed to a virus. The company is Copenicus Therapuetics http://www.cgsys.com/index/index.asp. The other is Inologics http://www.inologic.com/development.html. Its developing new compounds it hopes will restore the functioning of mucous membranes. There is some good research moving towards clinincal trials. Guest guest
Shaklee makes a chewable calcium and magnesium pill that my girls don't mind taking until they get old enough to swallow the Solgar. Deb A
