Am I talking to another Phyllis? I'm in Indiana - where do you live? You

don't have to worry about the age thingy - although I don't know the cut-off.

Wish I had known about this years and years ago; I'd had it in a New York

minute!!

Hi Phyllis in Orange Park-

I, too, have wondered about this surgery as treatment for obesity. When I was

in nursing school a few years ago, I first heard about it in a

Medical/Surgical Nursing class, and I wondered to myself about the

possibility of " Gastric Resectioning - as it was called " , as a means of

weight control.

Like you said, God answers our prayers. It's almost as if God is letting us

off this life of obesity, for our good behavior. It seems now as if our lives

of obesity were some sort of test. A test to see just what kind of people we

really are. Now, since it has become known that we are really pretty good

people- overweight or not- we are ready to cross over to the other side.

Judith, The criteria says 55 but his office staff said that even though I am 57

I should go ahead and that he takes each case individually. So betty said she

was 60. Maybe I still have a few years if the morbidities don't get me

first. Phyllis P. In Fla

Hi Phyllis (in Florida)-

I went to CPCC for LPN (Class of 94), and Gaston College for RN (Class of

200000!!).

I am in the process of looking for a higher paying job just in case I have to

pay cash, because I AM GOING TO HAVE THIS OPERATION!!!

Doesn't it seem as though our ship has come in? My sister had her surgery on

9/6/00 and if ANYBODY in th universe deserved to have the surgery-she did.

And just as she so richly deserved it, I know there are thousands more out

there who also derserve to have this done.

I'm just excited for all of us.

Hi Regina: Which nursing school did you attend? I am originally from

Charlotte

and worked at Charlotte Memorial ( Thats what it was called back then). My

sister had her gastric bypass at Presbyterian andI think Dr Garrison did the

surgery. She did not have any group support and was more or less out on her

own, She lsot 80 pounds and has maybe gained back 25 or so. I was not

inpressed with her procedure nor the choice of surgeons.

I will get off her now Keep me posted on how you are doing. Phyllis

GiGi, you are so sweet. I am so glad you are my sister. But you realize you

have always thought that way about your older sis. By the way, you know I am

50 today. And just think, I am going to feel better that I have felt since I

was a kid. You know I have weighed over 200 since I was 14. Of course I

have a while before I weigh 200. But I am headed there. I am waiting in

anticipation for you to join me and others. I love you very much and I am

pulling for you like you wouldn't believe.

Love, Nonnie
