Guest guest
Hi nyomi, > hi like to know about this every thing i read says to give yoghurt wh > if my son is casien free does he have to have this If you wish to remain casein free you certainly can. At the least we do encourage you to consider a legal probiotic to help repopulate the gut. As for the casein in yogurt, th yogurt making procss changes the structure of the casein molecule. It changes from a 3 dimensional shape to a 2 dimensional shape. Also in favour of the yogurt the milk proteins encapsulate the good bacteria so they can travel further in the GI tract where they can do more healing. Probiotics although very helpful won't this. This is thought to be one of the reasons why those who start yogurt see increased healing. *But*, you are early in the diet and many people do wait a while before considering the yogurt - giving the child some time to heal before trying it. If you do want to try it let us know and we can give you tips on how to introduce the yogurt to receive the best results. >also does he have to > have other vitimins as he has been on scd for 2 weeks can see lots of > progress In BTVC Elaine wrote, " most people with chonic intestinal disorders also suffer from malabsorption and consequently, are malnourished. It is advisable to that they add a viatamin supplement that specifically states that it is free of sugar, starch and yeast... " Are you taking any vitamin supplements now? Lucy's kitchen shop sells the " SCD multivitamin " http://www.lucyskitchenshop.com/freedavitamins.html I took the SCD multi for a short while but my malabsorption corrected itself (as shown in bloodwork) I was also eating a variety of legal foods. > stools are some times good today was abit yucky his eating all > scd foods, any info thanks nyomi..... Did you start with the intro and slowly add in foods. If his stools were good and are now yucky he may be eating something he doesn't tolerate yet. Guest guest
Hi Could someone just confirm for me that it is possible to get die-off reaction to introducing the yog - as opposed to just having a bad reaction to say the goats milk which I have previously avoided, along with other dairy products? Many thanks Dawn SCD 5 months
Guest guest
Yes, we see introduction of yogurt trigger additional die-off... pretty frequently. If you are wondering whether it's the dairy itself or the probiotics in it, try baking or cooking the yogurt into some recipe... which will kill the bacteria. Then you'd be left with the lactose-free dairy.... and could more readily tell what is causing what. Guest guest
If the good bugs were killed by the heat, then they didn't get to do the job of fermenting the lactose out. So.... sorry, this batch is not safe. Patti yoghurt SOme one shut my oven door and my yoghurt heated pass 140. Can I still use it even though there are no " good bugs " in it? Also does the french cream remove the casain after fermented? Jess
