Meleah,

I remember researching this a lot and basically, there is just one scary story

that is posted online over at quackwatch.com, where this woman tells her awful

story of having her skin turn grey and cautioning people not to use colloidal

silver. BUT, if you really read her history, you see that as a child, many

years ago in the pre-antibiotic years.... she was given great quantities of

silver nitrate drops which were administered up her nose, for chronic sinus

infections. Silver nitrate used to be given to newborns in an eye drop or

ointment, too.... but anyway, it has WAY, WAY more silver in it than true

colloidal silver and is probably responsible for that woman's condition.

I would agree with you that the real colloidal silver is very safe.... and the

way I use it is probably erring way over on the extreme side of

over-cautiousness. My other reason for using it just as a topical is because

it's so darned expensive. But, when I recommend it to people and they respond

with hesitancy about it's safety, I just advise using it topically only if they

fear this bizarre and unlikely side-effect.

If I had a desperately ill person in my household, with some sort of really

serious viral or bacterial illness, I would not hesitate to have them drink

several ounces of it hourly. I know colloidal silver is someday going to be

relied upon for those antibiotic resistant bacterial strains, and wild mutant

viruses (think bird flu!)... ! I know I'm going to be keeping a half dozen

bottles in MY pantry, just in case.

ot; colloidal silver response

I just wanted to share some info that I found about colloidal silver today. I

remember a post this week asking for ear infection remedies, and that Patty said

that she uses colloidal silver for topical healing. Someone else cautioned

against using it internally as it can cause the skin to turn grey, and it can be

dangerous. I actually have colloidal silver in my medicine cabinet, but haven't

used it much. A bit of internet research told me that there are three types of

" colloidal silver " on the market, but only one is true colloidal silver. Ionic

silver and true colloidal silver are not dangerous. The other one...can't

remember what it is called...is marketed as colloidal silver, and can be

dangerous if too much is taken. You will know if you have the " bad " kind because

it will foam up when shaken. It is suspended in a protein, and that is what

causes the foaming. A lot of interesting research has been done on colloidal

silver...the true form...and bacteria, parasites, ect. cannot survive in the

presence of true colloidal silver. It has been used to treat collera, colitis,

viruses, ect. I'm not going to go through everything, but it was very

interesting how colloidal silver relates to our immune system. I just googled

" uses for colloidal silver " and tons of info came up. I'll use the disclaimer

that I'm not a medical dr., and I am not advocating anyone go around drinking

colloidal silver. You should read the information for yourself. It's very

interesting.

Patty,

I'd like to know what brand you buy, powder or liquid, ect. Can you email

me off list for a few more details. You're right that it will be relied

upon one day for serious illnesses. I already have read about some initial

research for bird flu, HIV virus, ect. I'm wishing that I had some on hand

for iel because I'm pretty positive now that he does have strep. He's

refuse to eat or drink anything which is what he always does when he has

strep. I asked him if his throat hurts, and he says " No. Beard. " . My

husband has a beard, so I think he's trying to express where it hurts, and

doesn't know what his throat is. Anyway, I'd like to get more info from you

regarding colloidal silver products.

collidal silver is useful for external appication and maybe limited

internal use to kill stomach bacteria or something but it is a heavy

metal and some-one i know after a weeks use of internal taking went

off her scone in a mannner similar to mercury toxicity

this happens way before skin greying becomes an issue

on the net all the 'take every day' die hards are all off thier

scones, you can tell from what they write on their web sites

Actually, the web sites that I was reading were not " personal stories " of

colloidal silver success. These were medical reports, research papers,

ect...actual medical stuff. I will be asking our dan doctor about it

though. I gave some to iel yesterday...only about a Tbsp., and today

he is up and around with absolutely no symptoms of the illness. I don't

think that this is coincidental. Like I said, I will consult our doctor.

Thank you for the cautioning words.

So, would you say then that colloidial silver would NOT be good for autistics?

(Since they have a hard time detoxing to begin with and they already have heavy

metals). Sorry a little OT.

for some persistent bacterial infections only collodial silver will

work

you are looking for a simple rule, but there are no rules only an

uunderstanding of the tradeoffs

colliodal silver does seem to be much better excreted than other

heavy metals but yes, its definitely neurally toxic so you have to

mix and match so to speak

actually for cuts and things i use povidine iodine which seems to

work pretty well

but say using povidine iodine but putting an application in of

colliodal silver to get the bugs from another direction if you see

what i mean

Thanks . I do tend to switch on/off with different supplements, foods,

oils, etc. with breaks. I feel a good balance there. I wasn't feeling good

about using the colloidial silver @ all for K but, I see what you're saying

I think. Jenn & K

Oops.... meant that to go directly to Carol only. Sorry! Even moderators are

Re: Re: ot; colloidal silver response

You know, I'm not going to continue replying to this topic on the list,

but.....

just FYI.....true colloidal silver is FDA approved here in the US as an

anti-bacterial. This Canadian doctor you refer to may have been sued.... and

maybe up there, precribing or selling colloidal silver is a crime, but it's not

here.
