Guest guest
If she's only been on SCD for 10 days, I would guess she is still processing toxins from die-off. Is she using SCD yogurt? Or taking acidophilus as a supplement? She really needs to repopulate her gut with good flora. The husband's itchiness would undoubtedly be due to die-off as well, if he's been on SCD the same length of time. They need to try soaking in epsom salts baths.... stay hydrated and make sure they're getting the probiotics in. And they need to be patient. If there was a lot of bacterial overgrowth and inflammation.... and parasites, too.... then there's been a lot of damage done, which won't heal overnight. Patience, and rest. Patti Adults with die off question! A friend of mine went on SCD for weight loss. She also has a history of IBS and parasites, though went through a cleanse a couple of months ago and said her IBS symptoms all but disappeared, but then started having constipation and pain... anyway, she went on SCD 10 days or so ago and can't get past being queasy and ill feeling though. She is not cheating at all... she put her dh on it who has colitis and eventually wants her autistic kids on it but she is thinking the die off symptoms should have subsided by now - anyone have experience with this? She is losing weight, has no more constipation and says her skin is glowing and otherwise has a lot of energy except for this queasy feeling that is debilitating and won't seem to go away. I guess her dh is itchy all over which I assume is yeast? But no queasiness... Thanks in advance! Robbie
Guest guest
I'm 3 weeks SCD & still feeling die off symptoms, sometimes worse then other times. We just started the yogurt too so I'm sure that will contribute. My kiddos & I seem a bit itchier too as part of the die off. Guest guest
Actually, she is devouring the carbs since she was low carb for so long - she thinks she had serious malabsorption issues which caused her metabolism to be faulty as since she was so extreme low carb she should have been losing weight. She says after 10 days her jeans are falling off of her but she refuses to weigh herself. She's made up some killer recipes, too - all have fruit and/or honey in them. I'm hoping she'll let me share some of them as she really has a talent for making up recipes. I know I certainly do NOT have that gift. My dh lost 45 lbs on SCD and had to start cheating to keep from losing more. In his case I think he could have done more carbs but he is not a big fruit person so he just kept losing weight. He is still 80% SCD but really only did it to support the kids who are on it for digestive issues. He said his blood pressure normalized for the first time since I've known him and he slept better while SCD. On the other hand, my kids are 100% legal SCD and have been for 2 yrs and have a wonderfully healthy weight - not skinny at all, not fat - just perfect. Guest guest
>> she is devouring the carbs << >>>She's made up some killer recipes, too - all have fruit and/or honey in them<<< I don't understand why this happens with some people and not with others. I know that SCD is not for weight loss..my main reason of course is all my digestive and health problems. But because I need to lose some weight and also have no choice but to be SCD I am interested in the weight loss part as well..since I will be SCD for the rest of my life. They need to go hand and hand I think. I barely eat carbs only because they bother my stomach. Only cooked veggies and yogurt is the carbs I get. I read all these posts about people who eat and eat everything SCD they want and lose and lose until their desired weight. I haven't lost a pound since I started. Dosen't make sense to me at all. Ah well..at least I know I'm healing IBS-C 7.5 yrs, SCD 8 months
Guest guest
I haven't lost a pound either; same struggle but it's early on for me too. I hope as I heal maybe the weight will come off easier. SCD isn't a weight loss or weight gain diet. It's about normalizing your weight. Shifting your digestion from RUMEN digestion, where the bacteria do everything (like in a cow's 4th stomach) to HUMAN, where we do the work requires an astonishing amount of energy, so weight loss isn't uncommon, even for those who don't want or need to lose some. Once the switch is made -- and it can take months -- she may reach a more equitable plateau. That she says she has lots of energy and is glowing is marvelous! What I suggest she do is keep a food diary with some of that new-found energy. And be sure to note when she has the queasy feeling so it may be possible to track what food or foods isn't agreeing with her. Uhm.... I don't suppose she could be pregnant? SCD has that effect on women of child-bearing age with appropriate opportunities.... that could account for the queasyness. -- Marilyn (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) Undiagnosed IBS 25 Years, SCD Five Years Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

She worried it could be stressful to the digestive system. There is no " weight loss part " to SCD because it was never created for weight loss. However there are things you can do which would be to moderate calorie dense foods, use more fish and chicken than red meat. You might want to look into the SCD Low Carb support group. I must add that Elaine praised the healthy dietary fats as important nutrition. Carol F. SCD 6 years, celiac

Guest guest
, Why do you put vinegar with the lugols? And how much? Guest guest
the vinegar seems to make the iodine more 'slow release' the amount is really how much acidity you can tolerate drinking dunno, maybe put a couple of reaspoons of vinegar in 1/8th of a glass of water thyroid recovery is slow but definite > > , > Why do you put vinegar with the lugols? Guest guest
Lugols iodine is also a remedy for candida. Now she is extremely sick - bad diarrhea, nausea, can't leave the house to get the acidophilus. I know she had/has parasites because when she did the cleanse she saw the dead critters - anyone know specifics on how this diet affects parasites? Could it be causing them to overpopulate if she didn't get them all?? I feel so bad for her - she has a business to run and can't get anything done. Robbie a drop of lugols iodine in about 1/8th of a glass of water with some vinegar added before the lugols iodine is mixed in the thyroid hormones control the rate at which the body burns energy, its that simple " iodine " in the index of http://tinyurl.com/2csa3 .
