Guest guest
Hi Jenn, Don't Stockpile to much food, because your taste buds change after surgery. By the time I got home to Ca I could not have one more mouthful of chicken broth, didn't like V8 anymore, but liked spicy V8 and Snappy Tom, couldn't tolerate the fruit juices because of my blood surar levels, and I craved tomato soup which I normally don't eat. You will feel well enough to go to the store when you get home. The first week or so we sometimes have a kind of metalic taste in our mouth from the Carafate, because the doc says it has aluminum in it, so things don't taste the same. I lived mostly on light nonfat yogurt and carnation sugar free instant breakfast with nonfat lactaid free milk. Gatoraid was helpful but only liked a few flavors, I don't know if everyone has had the same experience with thier taste buds being out of wack, but I sure did, and still do, I hope it is just the Carafate. I am still on it because after going a whole month without nausea, I started getting it after I stopped the Carafate and the Previcid at one month, so I am trying another month on the meds. I guess I could have said this in one sentence, only buy enough food for a day or two and then play it by ear or should I say mouth.
