Guest guest
> > Is coconut flour the same thing is finely ground, unsweetened, dried coconut? I saw it on Digestive Wellness, and wondered if it is the same thing. Can you buy the finely ground coconut at health food stores? > Meleah scd 05/06 > iel 3yrs., asd Ethan 5yrs., Mark 1yr. Coconut flour is fiber from the coconut meat after most of the oil has been extracted to make Coconut Oil. It contains fiber. Fresh or unsweetened, shredded coconut and coconut flour are all legal. I do not understand why people do not use the search engine on Elaine's website which is where i found the answer: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/legal/legal_illegal_a-c.htm Carol F. Guest guest
I'm not asking whether it is legal. I am asking whether it is the same thing as finely ground, unsweetened, desecated coconut. I asking asking because you replied to an email that someone posted a couple of weeks ago about cake icing. Mandy posted a white frosting recipe that she came up with. You replied to that saying that " finely ground, unsweetened, desecated coconut is almostly exactly like using icing sugar. Just use less honey. " I am wanting to know if something that is called by the name of coconut flour is the same thing that you referenced which was finely ground, unsweetened, desecated coconut. Guest guest
I think the Digestive Wellness coconut flour is not the same as dried unsweetened coconut. I buy Bob's Red Mill brand dried coconut... and it is fairly fine textured, but not as fine as flour. I supposed one could run it through a coffee grinder or super-duper food processer to have it come out finer. Dried coconut is pretty fibrous... and not for beginners. Guest guest
This is confusing, Carol... She was asking if the Digestive Wellness coconut flour is the same thing as unsweetened, dried coconut. First you said no... now you say yes.... but, I *think* you mean no! Right? I am admittedly unfamiliar with Digestive Wellness " many products having tried three of their cookie varieties, I found them extremely unpleasant as compared to anything homemade. So I guess never attempted to answer that part of the question properly. Carol F.
Guest guest
Everyone is different..... some people might tolerate the fiber in the coconut flour at 4 months, but for others, it might be too much. Strawberries and pineapple should be fine for in a cake.... since they would be cooked. Be cautious.... start with a very small piece of it and watch him closely for a few days. You just never know. I don't think my daughter could have handled coconut flour at four months out. Patti Coconut Flour Is it OK to start using Coconut flour, Starwberry and Pineapples in a cake 4 months into being Scd. My son loves Coconut flavor and just wanted to make sure that I can start using it.
